The station is meant to serve "King Abdullah Economic City", a purpose built integrated residential and industrial/commercial park 40km or so south of the town of Rabigh. The place at the moment is a building site with few people living and working there and moreover the station is located outside the "city" as it was not incorporated into the masterplan.

They really would've been better off building the station in Thuwal further south, or Rabigh further north.

Does anyone have any "hard" information on when this line will come into operation. The last I read in the (western) press was that the section from Medina to Rabigh is expected to start services at end-2015. If true, this seems to indicate a phased approach. When would the line to Mecca then come into operation?

The images inside the Talgo Haramain is a scale mockup built for the visit of the president of the Saudi Railways Organization, Mohammad Al-Suwaiket khild and Saudi Minister Jubara Al-Suraisri in July and September 2013. Image is before March 2014 because AVRIL moved to La Sagra; will soon begin testing by the lines of Seville and Valencia. The trailers are still being built, the first train was delivered in late 2014, sources within the Talgo factory Rivabellosa we have confirmed.

I have doubts about the photo of the locomotive, according to our source within Talgo yes it could be, as it is in the state assembly, although it could also be that of AVRIL. Thanks for the picture !.

Although the news media, including Spanish, I am convinced that there were changes in order to Talgo. The trains were to be initially 35 with 12 trailers, but thanks to the engine order Trápaga factory, to a change in the length of roads in Saudi Arabia workshops and confirmed by our source within Talgo, we now know that trains will be 35 plus the Dual VIP (hybrid, like Talgo 730) for the King Abdullah, namely: 36; also that every train will be composed of 13 trailers, the slightly longer than the normal ends Talgo (13.14 meters), for an approximate length of 215 m.

En 2010 utilizaron 26 de esos remolques para hacer la rama Trenhotel Euhotra (Euro Hotel Travel) para turismo centroeuropeo. Solo duró un año:


Kazajstán Fatima (2001/2004). 2 ramas Trenhotel T-VI RD de KTZ para 200 km/h.


Kazajstán Tulpar o Saraishyk (2011/2020). 40 ramas Trenhotel T 9 (T-VI con normativa GOST específica para la Unión Aduanera: Federación Rusa, Kazajstán y Bielorrusia) de KTZ para 200 km/h.
Dentro de este pedido los primeros 420 coches (2011/2014) son T 9 normal, pero las siguientes 21 ramas son de caja ancha gracias al gálibo ruso. La filial de viajeros de KTZ (Passazhirskie Perevozki) adjudicará próximamente 2.000 coches más.


Bosnia (2010/2012). 5 ramas butacas y 4 Trenhotel T-VII de ZFBH para 220 km/h limitadas a 120 km/h por tracción.
Prácticamente no han circulado por problemas políticos y económicos, y han sido alquilados a Turquía en 2014.


Argentina (2011/2012 hasta 2012). 6 ramas (entregadas solo 4) butacas T-IV exRenfe de Ferrobaires para 180 km/h limitadas a 100 por infraestructura. Contrato y explotación suspendidas por el gobierno argentino.


Uzbekistán Afrosiyob (2011). 2 trenes T250 con tracción Team (S-130 con ancho fijo ruso) de UTI para 250 km/h.


Rusia (2015). 7 ramas mixtas (Trenhotel y butacas) T 9 de RZD para 200 km/h. 3 con rodadura desplazable para Moscú-Berlín y 4 con ancho fijo ruso para Moscú-Kiev (según Vía Libre serán destinados a Moscú-Nizhny Novgorod). RZD adjudicará próximamente 2.000 coches.


Arabia Saudí Haramain (2016). 35 trenes T350 con tracción Bombardier (S-112) de RSO para 330 km/h, más un tren VIP Dual. Opción de 23 trenes más.

There was never a Euhotra train, operating real passenger services.
This photos was taken at Berlin Main Station. The trainset was chartered by the German Parliament Bundestag.
