i think they messed up the height of some of the towers... eiffel tower is 324 m, this tower is said to be 302 m.

I like it. Similar to the Canton tower it looks more like a real building than a observation tower. I not a fan those needles. They all go for the ufo on a concrete stick look.

It's kinda growing on me but I still think it looks out of place.

There are some cool "classic" towers. Guangzhou, Seattle and Berlin have some of my favourites. Then there are some really abysmal ones like just about every other TV tower in Germany, that thing in London, or the Oriental Pearl Tower. To move away from the classic tower design is a cool idea, but they will have to do something about this proposal looking like it was thrown together in five minutes.

I like it. Miami could really use another landmark.

it is unique and it will for sure become a landmark and icon for miami, and miami really needs one, so i am happy they are not building just a normal tower but something as weird as this.

It doesn't look like a hairpin for the 50,000-foot woman to you?

I agree. Ugly or not it has iconic landmark potential. Miami, outside of Miami Beach, really needs better tourist attractions

Miami's been going crazy with the supertall proposals lately.

At first, I thought this was a skyscraper, and my first though was "what terrible usage of land. There's barely any usable space." But then I realized it was an observation tower and I warmed up to it. This is a very innovation design as far as ob towers go; everything else it basically a big cylinder, or two or three, with a big needle coming out the top. Their silhouettes are incredibly similar, and this one mixes it up a bit.

I think in 10 years, Miami will undisputably be the number 3 skyline in the US.

Interesting. Lovely design.

Birmingham in the UK had proposals for something similar called VTP200.

Ours was £95m.

It was a theme park in the sky. Ours seems dead in the water though but, not to be rude, Miami is certainly a place where they can get away with it. Noise pollution would not be a major factor compared to city centre Birmingham.

Here is ours.

The team planning to toll these out actually identified Miami as a possible location.

I'm liking the responses we're getting from around the world. I was afraid this would end up being a laughing stock for the city because to me, it just looks like a giant hairpin, but not everybody sees it that way, so this could work well for the city.

Well, some people swallow everything that's sold as "unique" or "innovative", that's pretty much how the entirety of modern art came to success once. The problem with people only liking it for that one reason, which is a problem modern art quickly faced, is that people tire of it quickly. Once it's no longer the newest, hippest thing around, people look at it with different eyes.

The major difference between this proposal and modern art is that with the latter, if you don't like it, you don't have to look at it, because I can't think of any Picasso painting that is 302m tall and put in a place where hundreds of thousands will inadvertently have to see it on a daily basis.
