Manhattanism

I just added Manhattanism as a term for the skyscraper dictionary. These terms are not easy to define, as like with any -ism, everyone will have some interpretation of their own.

What's yours?

Manhattanism for me is like growing in density and high as Manhattan did.......for many years Manhattan was a synonym of what a skyline should look like and still is for many people around the globe.....

This I would consider to be "Manhattanizing."

Well I would say the images conjured up when using the word Manhattan are those of power and wealth...

And the word comes up with (over)ambitious developments. We have our own 'manhattan aan de Maas' (Manhattan at the Meuse river) over here.

I've just read 'Delirious New York' and I can't explain, but now I understand what Manhattanism meams, it defines really amazing projects!
The just completed building "De Rotterdam" might be a small example for it, as some people say it's like a vertical city (I don't believe this too much).
