You are absolutely right on that score, this is a test case so if this can't be completed on time to specification then what does that say about Board Group claims regarding the Skycity project?

Eight cranes is pretty impressive. Hopefully we'll get more updates soon.

Don't rely on Board Group giving you any updates if Sky City is any indication of their PR ability.

By 6-5. 3 floors in 20 days. Slower than many projects!

I hope this helps Broad fanboys to be a bit more realistic about their supertall/megatall capabilities.

That's indeed not fast. But lets see if it will speed up or not.

I guess it's slow because they're testing.

Im just happy this is getting off the ground, the slow speed might be because they use a small crew or a temporary stop in construction or hundreds of other factors.

If they were testing, they would test the planned pace as well, no?

It's hilarious to see how many of you still fall for their foul promises. None of their towers will ever reach the scheduled pace. Even if they could build SkyCity statically feasible it would take years to complete.

And all the pessimists should get off their high horses a bit, we havent been able to see the progress on this from day to day, lets just wait a while longer and see what transpires.

It pays to remember that this is the first tower this size ever attempted to be constructed like this, it probably will take longer than they thought to build this way. Thats the beauty of trying new ways to do things, some new construction techniques might be better, some might not. Its great that Broad has the balls to have a go

The Chinese communist party made a significant shift this year to warn real estate construction companies to focus more on quality not quantity, and they pledged to crack down on substandard buildings. So I guess BSB is focusing more on the quality of their buildings and possibly adding more detail to their project, rather than on speed.
They hold the key to a new technology in highrise construction, and that's whats most important.

They have 90 floors to go to "test speed". But I don't fall in anything, it's a very far away construction and it doesn't affect me at all, they can do what they want, I don't feel being cheated or anything
And I wouldn't be surprised if the project from that photo is just a 25 floor building or anything very different from what we think, there's very little info avout this.

A pessimist see a difficulty in every opportunity while an optimist sees an opportunity in every difficulty.

with a whole bureaucracy breathy down their neck, I'm not surprised. They painted a huge target on themselves with Sky City, on the positive side, they will be more inspections from 3rd parties more through review process to keep things in check; on the negative side, not all regulator will be constructive, there many, many construction interest around China (and the world) want to see them fail.

I found this render of a broad group project

I suspect it might be the J97 project, found it on this site of the steel firm hong-lu. http://www.hong-lu.com/index.php/Bou...Lu-id-684.html.
It seems like BROAD uses steel from this company to build the J97tower.

They believed that construction would take about three months
(google translate)
This part was especially interesting:
Quote:
Currently 48J97 project component structure for the system's complexity, high precision requirements, the plant is currently unable to meet the processing requirements of strength, it needs new tire rack and specialized tooling to assist production and processing, precision component machining error is less than 0.5mm, the project members live with full bolt rigid connection, the process of making face many problems and challenges, workers chefs vigorously carry forward the "do not abandon, do not give up" spirit, business unit leaders also held a special meeting to discuss the best solutions, emphasizing hundred percent qualified to ensure the smooth progress of the project production process
Maybe the slow progress is because of problems on the supply side?

I would be surprised if it wasn't the case, I mean success or failure hinges on this project.

You apparently decided to ignore their completed towers which were constructed at their claimed rate. Your credibility pretty much went out of the window.

And apparently you decided to ignore that I differentiate between buildings and towers. Their 20+ floor buildings were constructed with full speed, yes. But I am talking about the towers. A 20 or 30 floor building is not really a tall tower.
Btw, talking about credibility... why would you trust / believe anyone on the internet anyways? Especially when someone is stating his personal point of view?
