A330-200 is more likely, no decision has been made so far.

Aha... The A330-300HGW can carry more passengers than the A332 (and can fly medium to long-haul), but, yes, it's for PIA to decide. The A332 though would be perfect for long-haul, thin runs that do not necessarily warrant a B777.

Actually, I have a different definition of long-haul versus medium-haul:

Short-haul: less than 3hr flight time
Medium-haul: 3hr to 5hr 59min flight time
Long-haul: 6hr flight time or more

Yes, I also take into account the distances between cities... so, in my case, with an average flight speed of 450mph, a flight covering roughly 2,700 nautical miles or greater would be considered as long-haul (since 450 mph * 6 hours = 2,700 miles)

PK will introduce New Business Class Seats on Boeing 777-200LR
PK's requirements for Boeing 777-200LR Business Class Seats:
4 abreast seats i.e. 1-2-1 seat configuration.
Better privacy i.e. seats should provide full private access to all Business Class passengers.
Better comfort i.e. 180 degree flat bed.
Light weight, minimum maintenance & spare parts cost.
Wider warranty coverage.

Two questions:

- What will the seating layout be like (e.g. typical forward-facing, herringbone, staggered, etc), and how many seats will the refubrished J class have?
- Will the refurbished J class be eventually rolled out also on the B77W and the older B772?

Are you sure? Where did you get that figure from, and which A330 type you're referring to? If that's the case, I could tell the Philippines about that aircraft improvement... but back to topic: if an A330 can indeed fly that far, then what's the possibility of it operating with PIA for its North America services?

Perhaps PIA can one-day revisit Dulles (IAD) with the A330. I would not have to go far to watch one on approach; my balcony.

Thank you! It is really helpful to know that such an aircraft can now fly that far without the need of so many passengers. PIA can have that aircraft as an excellent choice for thin long-haul flights.

Here's the thing, though: certain aircraft like the B777-200LR are really meant for ultra-long haul flights (e.g. Dubai-Auckland, Singapore-New York, Los Angeles-Johannesburg), while the A330-200 is one of the smallest wide-bodied aircraft for long-haul services, preferably used for thin, long routes (e.g. Karachi-Tokyo, Islamabad-Manila, Lahore-London). In that sense, with a combination of both B777 and A330 in the fleet, you can deploy your aircraft more efficiently based on passenger demand, allowing the airline to earn more money in the process.

Yes the 777 does have better range. My intention was not to compare but to inform.

I agree with fieldsofdreams. It would be in the best interest for PIA to have both the 777 and the A330 within their fleet.
