Tall, Thin Tower Proposed For 'Big Fish' On Miami River

Quote:
An extremely tall and incredibly narrow condo designed by architect Luis Revuelta has been proposed for a sliver of land on the Miami River known as the Big Fish after the seafood restaurant that was once there. Although the project is called The Edge On Brickell, if the tower, which is going through the approval process, is built, we think the name Big Fish might stick.

Images published by exMiami show a vaunted ground floor with tall bank windows and the tower rising cleanly to 604 feet or 55 floors. The 130-unit building would have a robotic parking garage on floors two through nine and an open amenity deck on the 10th floor.

Edge At Brickell Adjusts To Address Concerns

http://www.exmiami.org/index.php/edg...dress-concerns

Quote:
Architect Luis Revuelta has submitted modifications to the proposed 55-story EDGE at Brickell tower that addresses nearly two dozen issues raised by the city of Miami planning staff. The number of floors and units proposed remains the same

In response to comments about a 50′ high blank wall that would face pedestrians, Revuelta wrote:

The facade facing the river will be cladded by a glass structure which will incorporate a special purpose design art piece as reflected in the revised elevations and renderings as well as in the glazing and material boards. The design of the art piece is still evolving but it will incorporate themes related to the Miami River Area. While the upper portion of the design will engage the distance views of the building, the lower portion will increase the detail and grain to engage the pedestrian experience.

The river walk proposed behind the building has also been widened and expanded. The Miami River Commission approved the project at a meeting on Monday.
Once a setback waiver is approved, the tower can get started.

Renderings Show More Of 40' Wide Edge On Brickell Tower

Quote:
Although we first got a glimpse of the Miami River-front Edge on Brickell condo tower to be, at 55 stories high and a mere (approximately) 40 feet wide, oh, about 7 months ago, renderings have been few and far between. But alas no longer, now that its website has gone live (h/t: BuzzBuzzHome), and with that finally a few decent views, along with floor plans showing how the wide, narrow slab is divided into three units per floor. 124 in total. The building will have a robotic parking garage, which was probably the easiest way and/or the only way to fit enough parking into the a 40 foot wide tower, and a bunch of other gizmos like electric car charging stations and a biometric entry system.

I just wonder how a sliver of a building like this is going to hold up in a hurricane.

Edge On Brickell Being Replaced With An Even Bigger, 60-Story Project

Quote:
If you thought that The Edge On Brickell was a big tower crammed into a small space, wait until you see what the new owner of the property is planning.

Leo Macedo, a Brazilian developer, told The Real Deal that he plans to build an even bigger project on the tiny, 13,979 square foot site. It will include a 60-story tower with 300 condo units and 200 hotel units.

The hotel would be five stars. Macedo said that he is in negotiations with several flags “because many flags are interested in opening a new hotel in Miami.”

Kobi Karp is the new architect, replacing Permuy Architecture and Revuelta Architecture. Karp will be tasked with fitting a large project on the very narrow site. The previous design called for 130 units in a 58-story, 625-foot tower, with about two units per floor.

Most likely the two new floors will push this tower to the familiar 649 ft. ceiling.

Interesante aunque no me termina de cerrar, ojalá le den una vuelta al diseño.
