Trip Report: YYZ-DXB on EK's A380

Part 1 - Toronto, Canada to Hyderabad, India (w/Dubai Stopover)

Background:

With my cousin’s wedding planned in India for early October I began looking for tickets to the Sub-Continent in July. I was restricted to Emirates in my search as my family had already made their way to India before me on EK and the plan was that we’d return together after the wedding.
With a friend heading to Bangkok around the same time and another cousin in Dubai asking me to stopover enroute to India I tried to get some extra time off work to do a stopover in DXB along with a side trip to BKK. Unfortunately BKK was not possible due to work constraints.
So after searching dates online at emirates.com I finalized my travel date of Oct. 2
As the day approached I was very excited that I was going to finally travel on the A380! My entire immediate & extended family had already flown on the A380 before me (From my 6mos old son to my 90+ year old grandmother) LOL

Very cool! Wondering if you took pictures of the new retail at T1 - you mentioned it in your report.

Nope, it was all covered with hoarding at the time.

Guess I'll have to see it in a few months when I'm back at the airport, and flying AC.

Too bad my next flight is out of T3.

Thanks for the report.

Great trip report! Good to know you had a good flight. So was the flight full in all classes?

No wonder they're pushing hard to increase frequencies!

Wow that is so impressive. I think EKs YYZ flights are almost always full all the time. I remember a few years ago they were requesting to increase their flights to double daily to YYZ, and daily to YYC and YVR. Double daily to YYZ surprised me since that would put Toronto on the same size as JFK for EK which is very interesting. I'm surprised they never wanted to go to YUL since QR seems to be doing well on that route. If EK ever does get the rights to go to YVR then they would most likely drop SEA.

Low fuel price must be great news for all airlines, but not so much for the middle eastern airlines, as the competition gets stiffer.

@EmiratesAirline380

Do you think the route from Dubai to Seattle is mainly composed of Canadian passengers?

There are probably many Canadian passengers on the Seattle flight. EK has a partnership with Alaska Air mainly for Canadian passengers.
