"Capital city with the best skyline"

Not Washington D.C. I can tell you that

I like Beijing's skyline but it seems small for a Chinese city, it's in the same caliber as say LA or Toronto etc.

In the future, the historical city center may be surrounded by a ring of highrises.

Wow, nice Spire-line, if you could call that a Skyline.

Yeah, what an useful suggestion!

I'm sorry, but isn't that committing suicide is a SIN in your Western Culture?

This is a difficult thread to post a "Best of" because of the ever-changing skylines of many capital cities throughout the world. I always put everything into context, not simply height, but design, sense of balance, architecture, a sense of history concerning mixing new & old architecture, the mix of it all, the topography and location be it an inland city that would have a different design to its downtown compared to a coastal city that would be laid out along the coast, many of which would be tall residential & hotels. The European capital cities are of the old world design & architecture, so not as tall but the city tends to be quite functional. Asian cities have some old that tend not to be as tall, but their new towers are glamorous & soar to the sky. North American capitals vary greatly because of height limitations for example of Washington, D.C.. Ottawa of Canada has a more European feel to it limiting the number of skyscrapers, yet very dense. Mexico City is a capital city thriving & booming & ever-changing that will become a serious contender of huge skylines in 20 years. South American capital cities have some of the best architectural designs because of the massive amount of mid-rise buildings that seem to go to on forever. Oceania capital cities have a locally culture feel to them. So, I can't pick just one "Best", if I had to decide on one, it would probably be Buenos Aires, because of the mix of historical buildings, vast amount of mid-rises throughout different development periods, good height, layout of the city and sense of balance. My choice doesn't discount any other capital city of the world, many are spectacular indeed. I decided on my overall view & impression of the city.

I hope so ! I was thinking it needed some more steel while looking at the pictures . It would certainly be an even more spectacular city if it can go upwards as modern mixed with historical/classic design is great . New Orleans is a perfect example of a mixed era city.
