Let's wait for WSJ's or TE's article on a 'ghost town' in Shenzhen. Actually I'm quite surprised they haven't picked that one up yet. After all that's more buildings than the writers for those newspapers have ever seen in their hometowns which means it's GOTTA BE a ghost city.

That looks taller than 450m, but I don't like the design changes at all..

New model of the towers, seems like there could be no 400m+ tower at all....

But this tower is said to be 300m on gaoloumi:

And this should be 290m:

Indeed. All other towers seem concept. That model is very similar to the alleged phase 1 I posted about. Uncofirmed heights would be:
294m, 65 floors.
276m, 61 floors.
276m, 61 floors.
276m, 61 floors.
245m, 54 floors.
242m, 55 floors.
235m, 58 floors.
225m, 57 floors.

You are right, the model of the phase with the 400m+ tower are just concept, but I can't explain why they didn't just put a 400m+ box there to at least show the hights....
But of yourse it means nothing, it just confused me.

Qianhai is likely to be a total disappointment anyway. The whole thing becomes less amazing with every render and model they release. Baishizhou/Shenwan on the other hand is so promising.

Disappointment? 8x 225~294 is amazing, the former renders suggested only 4 towers with 200m+

I also have my doubts for real tall towers, but the towers we get, we will get in masses. Maybe a few towers over 350m, a dozen supertalls and far more skyscrapers. That would make it a prime location even without a megatall!

If this project were in NY, tons of people would be complaining that the tallest tower is "only" 450m.

We're talking about a city district that is built from scratch, 10 years ago that land did not even exist. So, 200m+ sounds pretty nice.

I'm not optimistic about either Baishizhou or Shenwan, the height limit imposed by aviation authority might not allow any 500m+ building to be built

After all, we have seen so many 400m+ proposals, and how many of them have been approved so far? Only 1 (China Resources Headquarters). That too got 100m chopped off from original height

Actually China resources headquarters will only be 392.5 m tallhttp://news.sz.fang.com/2014-08-27/13626083.htm,the majority of the 400m + skyscrapers are close to the airport. Its the damn airport that is screwing everything up.

Well in that case megatalls shall be built in Futian and its surroundings. At any case, Shenzhen is growing a crowd of skyscrapers.

Yes, Luohu and Futian can have multiple 400m+ buildings in the future, but none of the current proposals have been realized yet...The airport really screwed up everything

Baishizhou might be disappointing, but I am very optimistic about Shenwan since the hights we have are the maximum/minimum hights of the plots and the area is a CBD developed by the city and not by any developer. The worst case szenario is that every plot is just getting a skyscraper as tall as the minimum hight, which would be a few 400m buildings....

If the airport screws with baishizhou, shenwan also gets cut and vice versa, they are so close together we get either both or nothing. However houhai is cut to 400m, so how short can they cut shenwan or baishozhou if they do at all. 450m, 500m? That would still gives us many tall towers. Baishizhou seems to be in extremely early stages and all that proposed demolition will take decades, but shenwan is basically empty plots waiting on permission. Most of the architects in the contests did design towers of the proposed 680m heights and so on, for me it looks like we have good chances of it getting thru.
