Baishizhou renovation was scheduled to start half year ago, but was delayed (possible cancelled) till an unknown date. It says that the city urban planning will review the project next year but we see very slim chances to happen something. There is a huge supply of new apartments and office space at just one km radius, either west, Dachong or north, Qiaoxiang, Portofino, and the number of crappy dense buildings to be demolished in Baishizhou rise the costs of compensations to amounts which can compete with some oor country GDP.
And yes, the airport is far away, at least 12-15km from Baishizhou or at least 10 km from Qianhai, and the flight path doesn't cross exactly over Baishizhou or Shenwan but close enough. There must be other reasons for the massive height cut and delays....

massive height cuts are only apparent in qianhai and houhai. shenwan has seen no height decrease at all, nor is late on any shedule. baishizhou however is doomed to be late on shedules since it is basically placed above a lot of current people homes. getting them all out and starting demolition will take probably another decade, so baishizhou is a wildcard anyways, any bad news for baishizhou may have a lot of reasons.

So after all... Quinhai will have quite a number of supertalls, even if they are just about 300m tall

Isn't this the same plot as Qianhai Integrated Transportation Hub (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=1687090)?

yes, sadly it is, follow the integrated hub thread and you can read that several developers including silverstein bid for that plot. apparently silverstein won. we should anyway combine these two threads. we were expecting height decreases for the main tower, since latest models didn't show any tall tower anymore. not all is bad though, we basically lost a 400m tower for a 300m tower and two 200m towers. the 400m tower had only lowrises before.

It might be not the same plot, after reading thru our main qianhai thread this came up:
http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpo...&postcount=187

That's B plots not A plots.

It would really be nice to have a clarification though. the plots do look nearly identical.

Well, the loss of the 450m tower seems certain. I checked Google Earth and I can't imagine that these are different plots. But I don't mind this, the new supertall as well as the 240m tower have much better designs IMO

i don't see anything special in these designs to be honest, but with the mass of qianhai, simple designs are the best anyways, so that the skyline will look balanced in the end.

i guess it is just side towers, but hard to say. with no streets finished or marked on google earth i find it impossible to find and compare plots in Qianhai.

They are just building these typical chinese "support grids", so that they can excavate the area later. Neverthless, this means -> prep

Is this building going to be affected by the height restrictions (the 153 m thing)? Or does this apply only to certain parts of the Qianhai zone but not this one?

It is probably affected. It's unclear what the final solution is however, I hope that they will clear at least one area further south maybe with better regulations. A lot of developers bought plots with the intend to go big and will now feel screwed over, so I hope there will be sone sort of backup plan to accommodate this and not just paying them back sums of money.

eh most of the development money over there is from state banks, so the govt is just taking what is theirs anyway.
