Thanks. My source was a Romanian newsarticle from November 2014: > click <. The previous info was 'Late 2015'. What's your July source?

Actually, I don't have any source, it is just my (actually not only my, I know that also other roumanian users think so) prediction. Probably there will be a big opening for M43 in Hungary (till border) and A1 between Pecica and Arad and also between Timisoara and Lugoj, so that in august, when traffic hits a high level, all this project will be connected.

Latest video are

and this

Works have begun early this spring.

For Sebes - Turda lot IV (Decea - Turda) latest picture you can check this page. Many roumanian users move on to that forum so pictures in roumanian section of SSC don't appear often.

And about schedule: well, it's common for motorways to be openned to trafic before their completion (parking lot and other works are finish later) and for section that are financed through UE budget it's a big pressure to be finalized before the end of 2015, and so there seems to be a rush lately.

What does this discontinuation mean? That the new section is a replacement of an old one?

Yes, these stretches are bypassed with a new alignment. The old motorway will be demolished.

Correct. I don't know if there is a better English word, e.g. abandonment?

I want to note that the network length is not simply enlarged by opening the new section. It's also reduced...... In German: "Wegfall von xx km" = "discontinuation of xx km"?

I have prepared a summary of this years' motorway openings (based on MichiH's list of course). It is in the 2nd post: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpo...60&postcount=2

(Maybe someone wants to calculate how many motorways have been opened in China and in the USA based on the Motorway openings thread? )

In this context, "elimination" would be better than "discontinuation" or "abandonment". There might be a better word than "elimination" but, if so, it isn't coming to mind now.

I agree with this. Works on this lot have gone at a good pace, with very good chances of opening before the end of 2015. There are good chances that we might see the whole thing opened by august, but that's just a guess. For now, it's safe to say that by end of 2015 it's done. Take into consideration the fact that this is a 2007-2013 budget project, so it MUST be ready by then.

I honestly don't share the same optimism some users have regarding the A10. Progress has been pretty slim, less than would be required for an opening at the end of 2015. There are some big structures that need to be done and some of them haven't even begun. Besides, the EU has accepted the so called "phasing" of the A10 motorway and the A1 Lugoj-Deva, meaning that whatever isn't done by the end of 2015 will be paid using the 2014-2020 period funds. So it's pretty clear noone involved in the build is expecting an early opening...

Last month works were restarted on the Vallirana bypass (B-24), in Spain, 2.1 km including a tunnel. It will be an alternative for the current N-340, which is almost permanently congested in the section throughout the town. Works started 10 years ago and have been stopped twice. Let's hope the government doesn't stop them again. As you might imagine, there is no official completion date, but probably in two years or so it will be ready, as works were quite advanced when they were stopped last time in 2011.

Design & build contracts etcetera. I'm pretty sure, Kemo will post all required data as soon as construction works will have been started . Talking about Poland, I guess it will not take long.

They restarted construction today, according to the earlier news about the unfreezing of the project.

There was an attempt to list the Brazilian projects about 6 months ago but there where doubts if they really have motorway standard.

Well, I've modified the rules a little bit meanwhile.

Quote:
New motorways and expressways are projects which are currently under construction or have been opened since 1st January 2014.
The pre-conditions to be added to the list are, that the future road:
- must feature 2 carriageways with each 2 lanes
- must be grade-separated
- should be access-controlled
It doesn't matter if the future road will feature hard shoulders.
A median is not mandatory but there must be a fixed barrier between the carriageways, for instance guard railing.
If a 2nd carriageway is planned but not yet u/c, the project is added if the other pre-conditions - except barrier - are already fulfilled.
Projects which were under construction but are suspended now, are added too, if the completion is still planned by the countries demand plan.
In addition, roads will be added which will be rededicated to motorway or expressway status of the respective country.
Widening projects are not included.

I don't know, if the projects of the provided Brazilian list are according to the rules now.

In general, please consider my general note :

I would try to check the provided data and add the country to the list. The main work will be checking the data regularly in the coming years.......
