And there's more...

Desert Homes now have an on-site office at MVT, manned by a very helpful guy called Abdelaziz Rehani - After phoning ahead from the Desert Homes main office, he met me and gave me a full inspection of my flat, and also of the common areas. I have to say it was the most satisfying experience I have had with Desert Home, within the last 3 years.

MVT seems to be coming along nicely, the water is on in the flats, DEWA guys are on site, and the electricity is currently being hooked up to the apartments. Commissioning works will begin this week and will take 20 days, followed by 10 days for Civil Defence/Municipality inspections and certifications. Handover by the end of December, now seems to be very possible.

I can finally see some light at ther end of the tunnel, and can only hope this is not a train coming the other way....

Now that we are approaching handover and therefor final payment and the point of no return, can everyone confirm :

1) Are you paying the extra floorspace (Not being given 3% Concession) ???
2) Are you paying the 7000 Dewa connection/civil defense upgrade ???
3) Are you paying the 3.5Dhs/Sq Ft Chilled Water Charge ???

Or has anyone been given any reduction/concession over this by DH ???

Sadly, from owning an Apt 1006.42 sq ft, we now own an Apt measuring 963 sq ft, for which they sent us a final invoice stating that they owed us Dhs 36981.00.However they have held onto this money, from which they will deduct the service charge, the chillled water charge, and the DEWA/civil defence charge. We notified them of our Acc details, but not so much as a smell of our money, and this was last Sept, so one assumes that they have got their share for the services, and we will have to wait for the balance.Yet again we have e-mailed DH/Yelena, but no response.

My small flat was reduced 3.7% and I received my refund when I payed the final payment. Being there last week I was pleasanlty surprised with the onsite manager and his tour of the towers, in 4-5 weeks its going to be great. Am I paying? Already paid. You need the AC and you certainly need water and elec so whats the point arguing now? Trust me Desert Home want this finished yesterday so they can move on as well, am not saying they dont deserve a bit of harrasment for the obvious delays but when people like Yelena receive 50-60 emails a day with abuse and threats ect... I am not how I would react, again no excuse for the delay but seeing my flat and the location and views was great and seeing the end is so near just made myself feel it was all worth it so far. Thats just my opinion. Good luck all with your handover.

Have you asked for a breakdown of Dewa/civil defence, if its 1000aed for Dewa, then what is 6000aed civil defence covering.

Still good to see its all looking positive, are white goods in yet.

I can only repeat what I said earlier...

........"the water is on in the flats, DEWA guys are on site, and the electricity is currently being hooked up to the apartments. Commissioning works will begin this week and will take 20 days, followed by 10 days for Civil Defence/Municipality inspections and certifications".............................

I saw this with my own eyes on Sunday. - Maybe Yelena should also make a visit to site one of these days............

I must admit that I was a little disappointed, when Grubbman sent me this photo of the lobby, however, from previous visits I didn't expect 8 m height as this is simply impossible given the structure of the building.
I am currently staying in a 5* hotel in Osaka and I looked at the very spacious lobby there today realising that it had the same height as the lobby in MVT. I am convinced that as the MVT lobby is very wide it will give it a sense of grandeur and space.

Yes it felt fine and spacious. Also it feels bigger when one is there as to the right of the photo there are large windows leading out to the pool area which is huge and bright and looks out onto the marina. There is also going to be a fully managed gym which will take in outside members but will be free to the residents. This also looks out onto the pool area. I got told as well there was a possibility that connected to the pool and lobby area there will be a golf simulater for all you golfers. Its going to be very nice I feel. Wish I bought a 1 bed now
