7/10 A nice looking city, but it must be humid as anything, because it's about 4 degrees south of the Equator and on the Amazon River. What are some of the major industries there?

Not a bad idea building a beach on the Amazon River! Watch out for Piranhas!!

I heard a story that I think happened in Manaus. A wealthy immigrant to Brazil in the 1800's moved to Manaus, but since he was a huge opera fan he felt that the city should have an Opera House. He paid to have an Opera House built and he somehow got it to the mouth of the Amazon. He then had it loaded on a ship and taken down the river to Manaus. Is there any truth to that story?

hmm...it seems alittle too hard to say. the city looks really well planned out, and there also seems to be alot of construction, especially skyscrapers, getting built. i think that it's going to look great when alot of those projects get completed, but for now i think it deserves a 7/10.

Beautiful. I bet it rains a lot though. Very clean and modern looking.Quite surprising, all the pictures of Manaus Ive seen before show colonial, leafy, old looking decay. Nice skyline. But I wish it was denser and not so spread out. Looks too resorty. 7/10

Manaus has a lot of agglomerations, many skylines. It's hard to have a photo with all buildings.

Other skyline of Manaus.

7.5

Really cool use of colour on the buildings' facades. Nice and new and shiny in most of those pics, the city has some nice height, and density. The core (wherever that is, I suspect it is in that aerial by the river) looks a little older. Needs some infill and definition of the core.

That beach picture is pretty cool for an inland river city. If anything Manaus should be an eco-tech/sustainable development hub being in the middle of the Amazon rainforest and river....but you know how that goes...... Lots of skyline potential........right now is about 6.5
