CONSTANTINE | Public Transport

Recently, like Morocco, Algeria also started construction of new tram networks. After Algiers, now in Constantine.

Here is a map.

There is a photo

I must say that I never saw such an u-l-t-r-a high tram bridge any where. Perhaps it is the highest tram bridge of the world.

More photos are most welcome.

But I heard the system of Porto is light rail, where as Constantine's system is tram. Porto has a heritage tram system, which is like former (now closed) system.

Looking at the picture, I'd say the vehicle is very much inte line with what many Light Rail lines run. Tram vs Light Rail is far from a clear definition.

Looks great. Any extensions planned? Maybe to connect it with either the aerial tramway or one of the rail stations?

I still not found any news about any extension of the network. Is there any official website? Especially in English?

Please try to answer these -

1) Is there any plan to extend the network with new lines? If yes, please write some details and post a complete map with planned extensions.
2) Reserved or unreserved - which type of track layout is common in Constantine tramway network?
3) Which is the busiest tram terminus?
4) Which termini have interchange facility with suburban rail network?
5) Where is/are the depot(s) of the tramway network?

So rollings stocks are same like Algiers' tram, the only difference is that those are blue bottom, where these are green. I personally like better this green colour.

The heritage tram in Porto is working with 3 lines operating. Even recently it inaugurated a circular line in Oporto downtown.

But you're right regarding the bridge mentioned above (Ponte D.Luis), crossed by the subway/light rail "Metro do Porto", not related with the Oporto tram, runned by STCP.

In near future, Algeria will be the country of Africa, where most tram systems will run.
