Montreal is in desperate need of some new high rises. These look for the most part to be pretty solid.

Great podium, I'm not a huge fan of the skywalk though. It looks a little dated.

Quad Windsor To Redefine Montreal's City Centre

Quote:
In addition to tours of Canadians and Deloitte, the Quad Windsor project proposes to redefine the downtown Montreal with the addition of five new residential buildings and two office buildings over the next 15 years

The project, with investments totaling more than $ 2 billion was announced by Cadillac Fairview Corporation. It is part of a development plan that, when completed, will transform the city center of the city and create a new neighborhood offering workspaces and ultra-modern life named Quad Windsor.

"We plan for mixed use, including office space, residential buildings and shops, all representing more than 4 million square feet. This mix will help create a vibrant new neighborhood in downtown, which will extend the nerve center of the city, buildings will add prestige to the skyline of the city and improve the integration of the city center to surrounding neighborhoods and Griffintown, "says Salvatore Iacono, Vice President of Development and Property Management Eastern Canada at Cadillac Fairview.

The project integrates the principles of sustainable development and promotes a style decidedly urban life where housing, work and entertainment meet. Cadillac Fairview promises to work with the City of Montreal to study and review all of the proposed project that will take place in four phases.

Phase 1

-The first proposed phase includes two residential towers located at 1150 and 1250 Saint Antoine Ouest, in the block between de la Montagne, Saint-Antoine, Jean d'Estrées and Torrance.

-These two towers will be connected by a sky bridge that crosses San Antonio and will extend the existing public pedestrian network, allowing people to cross St. Anthony sheltered from the weather.

-The Towers will each have 38 floors and will follow the natural slope of the skyscrapers in the sector.

-This phase was subjected to a process of public consultation and is currently the subject of an application for rezoning studied by the Ville-Marie.

-The Buildings were designed by IBI Group Architecture, global firm and Planning based in Montreal.

Phase 2

-The Proposed second phase includes two office towers located at 750 Peel, for a total leasable area of 1.1 million square feet.

-Both Towers have a tapered shape that will enable wider sidewalks at the base of buildings and alleviate the impact on the skyline.

From the North side, along Peel and St. Antoine, the plan includes a public square with a dynamic business offering.

-At South along the Rue Saint-Jacques, one will find the green spaces along the curb, light wells and underground public access to the underground network.

-The Buildings were designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture, a Chicago firm responsible for global coverage. Architects Adrian Smith and Gordon Gill designed the Burj Khalifa including Dubai while working at Skidmore, Owings and Merrill.

Phase 3

-The Proposed third phase will be located at 600 Peel and include three residential towers facing Peel and St. Jacques.

-Of Townhouses will be located at the foot of the towers, as well as retailers and services for residents, for a potential of up to 1.5 million square feet.

-The Towers will be slightly curved to maximize the views and exposure to the south and will be built around a pedestrian street that crosses the site.

-A large urban park, accessible to the public, will be integrated into the project.

-To Ensure consistency in terms of architecture, the architectural firm Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture has also developed plans for the towers.

No render for Phase 4

Phase 4

-The Fourth phase will be the development of Windsor Station, a jewel of Montreal's heritage that has served as inspiration for Cadillac Fairview in its development plan for the city center.

Fairview -Cadillac work to restore Windsor Station ensuring preserve its essence, its architecture and its history.

I really like this. Montreal's skyline has a pleasing density and backdrop but it feels a little dated to me.
