One thing that gets me about all this new high rise development in the city is that the average apartment ranges in the millions. Seems like the build up of a new market bubble.

That's what I'm doing right now (living in Queens), and I'm paying $780 for everything and my room is barely twice as large, if even, but I do have a separate kitchenette in the hallway and the bathroom has a jacuzzi tub. The location is excellent. No complaints here.

Title has been updated.

The Hudson Spire concept may not be entirely dead but at 61 floors, it's quite a stretch to reach 1,800 ft. Since work is slated to begin late next year, there will likely be some time before we get new renders and updated dimensions (I do think this will be a supertall).

Definitely a supertall and a nice one with that price tag! I'm hoping and guessing 1,250' at least minus a spire. I think that's realistic. I'm sure Tish would be going with very tall ceilings heights here like 50 Hudson Yards.

50 Hudson is almost 1,100' with 48 floors!

I could see 1,300+ ft. with a flaired top. Tishman has been known for building signature towers.

That is a very cool design. I hope for something of similar quality here.

The "1,800 ft. Hudson Spire" was just a broker's tease as they sought a buyer for the site, It was never a solid proposal (although it could have been if Tishman had embraced the concept). I'd still expect something interesting here...and very tall.

That's your prerogative, but it leaves you with only three buildings on earth, and none in the developed world.

Wait, you're saying China is not in the developed world? More specifically, Shanghai.

No, China is not considered a developed nation, although it is rapidly approaching the status. Shanghai is very modern and things, but people usually consider the country as a whole.

building ridiculous infrastructure like 2000 ft buildings doesn't make the country developed. I would definitely call Shanghai a developed city, but China as a whole needs improvement which doesn't involve constructing supertalls everywhere if it wants the world to consider it developed.
