I think it's pretty clear why we need a much taller tower @HY. The North Tower is simply not tall enough to break the plateau. What a pity it got a height cut (from originally 1,337ft/408m).

I really hope this tower reaches at least 1,500' ... although chances are slim. Maybe with a large crown/spire ...

We don't know how high this building will be. I take it the "61 floors" we read about is not very finalized.

It would be nice to have a signature tower though... Although a 1000+ foot plateau is cool in it's own right.

The article last month about banks looking for space brightens the future prospects for this and other planned towers.

I missed the attached article from Crains last May about how TishMan and Related (50 HY) are wooing Deutsche Bank.

Nice!! I missed that too.

Also from the article in Re: Tishman

The best part is...

Quote:
Tishman Speyer, the large real estate investor and developer, has quickly made itself a player in the Hudson Yards neighborhood where it just closed on an over $400 million deal to buy a development site where it can build a massive 2.85 million-square-foot tower.

The firm has met with Deutsche Bank to pitch to the European financial giant the opportunity to become the anchor tenant in what could be an over 80-story tower.
OVER EIGHTY STORIES!

I totally called that the 61 story figure wasn't final.

Hopefully this thing is a monster, sounds like it will be. Could be the Hudson Yard's signature tower topping the 30 Hudson Yards tower.

I agree re: the height. This tower will be at least 400m.

With 80+ New York office floors they could do a lot. 1 Vanderbilt is 65 floors and 1,414' roof / 1,514' spire. So with a large crown and spire this could break 1,600'.

Perhaps something like this:

I just realized the article was from nearly a year ago. What a let down.

Hold your excitement guys, for all we know it's still ~60 stories.

This is still the perfect spot for a spired tower. There are none in the Hudson Yards.

61 stories is more recent than the 80+ unfortunately, even I fell for it. Make sure to read dates on articles before posting them

With that said this building will probably be ~300 meters, and the last thing NYC needs is another sorta tall building with a giant spire. There's already (counting antennas) the BOA, NYTimes, Conde Nast, WTC, ESB, AIG, Chrysler etc.

NO. SPIRES!

I think this will be around 400m. I would not be surprised if it's anchored by a Chinese tenant. Something is clearly in the works!

Maybe with an architectural element, since the relatively unimpressive 61 story figure came after the article just posted it probably won't be more than 300 to the occupied top. Now granted the 61 figure may not be final either but it's what we have to work with now. If a big Chinese firm anchored the building that would be awesome!

China should just build us some its skyscrapers (which are often actually American designed/engineered) in our cities while they're at it. Stick a Shanghai World Financial center in an American City and I'd be very happy

They never really said what they have planned for the land. & they just drew up the spire so they could sell the land. So we were getting played from the jump.

I hope this tower is black like the Sears and Hancock towers in Chicago. We have enough blue with the World Trade Center and the Hudson Yards.

I think The Trump World Tower is one of my favorite towers in the city.
