Amazing churches!

I am particularly interested in protestant churches (no matter if Lutheran or Calvinist). The one in Debrecen is surely impressive. Is it true, as I heard recently, that in Hungary this transversal arrangement of the interior is more or less standard in Calvinist churches?

I don't know if it's a standard (I saw some hungarian reformed churches with basic arrangemet of the interior ,i mean like in a catholic church) ,although I think that the majority of the churches have this type of interior arrangement.

Well, I have researched this type of interior/layout in Germany, where it was in use both among Lutherans and Calvinists in the late 17th to early 19th century, but by far not the standard layout, and was amazed to hear how frequent it seems to be in Hungary. So I am curious to see more examples.

Im afraid here in the West we know far too little about the church culture and architecture in the former Eastern countries. We should open our eyes and learn!

I can only add that the Calvinist/Reformed church in Kecskemét is like that too.

Wonderful thread. I appreciate the geographical setting and the combination of exterior and interior. Well done.

Please allow me a Very Dumb Question, but I'm curious to know: Why do all(?) churches in Hungary display the Hungarian flag inside?

I don't know ,maybe because the hungarians are more nbationalistic than others
Even in Romania ,in the hungarian churches, I saw many hungarian flags. In Romania I know they want to affirm the ethnic identity in some way.
