I also kinda like the second option. Traditional Middle Eastern architecture which we don't have here hehe

The first one blows the second one out of the water.

I like them both. They're so very different from one another. I'm glad I'm not the one who has to decide.

The first one is really nice, though I can't see it being chosen.

Seriously? Why not? That district is going to get filled with buildings with avant garde (at least for Manila) designs. It'll be in great company.

Here's a similar looking development that's going to be built not far from it.

Meridian Manila

And this one.

Conrad Hotel

WOW Architects

Here are some other types of buildings in the neighborhood.

BTW, the design of option-1 was inspired by the Qatar national flag.

I'm in love with the first design. It has a Zaha Hadid feel to it.

The second just seemed like something more 'buildable', plus it had an interior render, but I wasn't aware of the buildings surrounding it, so maybe they will indeed choose the first one. I hope so, anyway.

By the way, that Conrad Hotel is gorgeous.

Oh yeah... I get you. Option-2 looks more traditional and conservative but with some modern elements added to it. If the architects didn't have that 1st option I would have no problem with the 2nd one, but since it's there it would be a huge waste of creativity to me if the Qataris turned that 1st one down.

Conrad Hotel is a beauty! It's well under construction right now. There are more info and pics about it here...

It will look tacky and ugly. Middle Eastern Architecture has to be ornate and detailed to look good. That building has a very kitsch aura about it. Option 1 by far.
