@DeltaTechOps works wonders with these #Delta #757s. This ex-NWA frame looks & smells like new. #PaxEx

FedEx 767 fleet contains:

3 frames leased from LATAM (will be returned to lessor)
2 frames bought from Silk Way (already upgraded cockpits)
25 frames bought directly from Boeing (106 frames ordered in total).

That's why N130FE is 26th frame straight from Boeing.

DHL bought another 767-300ER for conversion to freighter. LN613 will be registered N284DH. It's former TUIfly Nordic's frame ex SE-RFS. Originaly delivered to Britannia Airways as G-OBYB 3rd May 1996.

The 767 must be one sturdy frame if it is being widely converted to KC tanker and Freighter at 20 years of age. Most tankers flying today are Boeing 707 conversions.

Very few 707s,if any, were built as tankers ( designated KC-135 after conversion) ...I think the oldest is 50 years old and still going.

KC-46A isn't conversion. These will be brand new frames, just simply based on Boeing 767-200ER platform. It's not clean sheet design, but structure, wiring, cockpit, equipment were heavily modified. Engines got some performance upgrades too.

IIRC only 9 Boeing 767s were converted to tankers:
4 for Japan Air Self-Defense Force KC-767J
4 for Italian Air Force KC-767A
1 for Colombian Air Force B767 MMTT

True. Brand new KC-46 combines:
  • the -200ER fuselage
  • the -300F wing, gear, cargo door and floor
  • and the -400ER digital flightdeck and flaps, uprated engines

Converted frames have not the same specifications.

Indeed very few 707s were built as tanker, to be exact, none was built as a tanker. Just like there was no KC-135 that was built as a 707. There were no conversion from the 707 into KC-135 tankers for the USAF. these are 2 different type of planes that were both developed from the Boeing 367-80 prototype. The 1st KC-135 was actually delivered before the 1st 707.
