Lest we forget, the space needle was built for the 1962 World's Fair. It's much more attractive than that giant Atom they built in the Netherlands (or wherever in Europe it was).
And I am also unaware of any 4,392m tall mountains in the UK for comparison...
Does it look less feeble from down here in Tacoma?

I'm not exactly sure why many folks keep faulting the "conservative architecture" in Seattle. Personally, I think that the high rises (with a couple of exceptions) look pretty classy. Despite the poor quality of my freeway shot, the skyline really is pretty good, on par with some of the more famous cities.

Conservative? Yes. But they'll still look good in 25 years while other cities will be dealing with the modern equivalent of Shag carpeting.

9/10 one of my few fav skylines althought i probably wouldn't like it as much if it weren't for the space needle. I love skylikes that have one or more buildings that stand out. the space needle makes the skyline uniquely seattle and for that it's a great skyline.
