Milan actually looks nice, really nice. Northern Italy is so much nicer than southern Italy..

It's a 'different beauty'. Southern Italy is also good for landscapes and cultural heritage.

Milan looks really sharp! Milanese friends should be proud of the rapid development of their city!

Yea I agree. Northern Italy just feels more modern and progressive and the south more old and pretty

Porta Nuova and CityLife are not completed. While, as I said in my previous post, other big projects that will take shape are in Scalo Farini and the Expo site. Also are there other important projects around the city. In 2016, Milan will elect a new mayor: it will be very decisive. BTW the city is changing.

Nice towers but I'm not a fan of those golden "sticks" obviously it's just for decoration and it doesn't do a good job imo.

It's a strange city, when I was there at the beginning of the year it was very beautiful in certain places but on the whole it feels extremely industrial and I felt a certain coldness about the place.

The skyline is really coming on though and I guess as the the industrial powerhouse of the country, it's going to feel a bit industrial eh!!

No offence my Italian friends but...
I've traveled to Milan for the first time in my life last week. I went specially to Porta Nuova district to see the skyscrapers. I must say that pictures being posted in this thread is a masterpiece of marketing. That district doesn't look nice at all. Also it's not that dense. I've always thought that Warsaw is not dense but comparing to Milan it is the capital of density.
I've read that "it is still not completed" but that's even worse to me. Is Porta Nuova being built because someone decided so? I like such cities like London or Frankfurt (or Warsaw but you will probably accuse me of being biased) where skyscrapers are built as a result of some natural economic processes. Otherwise it looks false like in Moscow IMHO.
But that's only my opinion about the skyscrapers in Milan. I really liked Italy. It's beautiful. I've travelled through Lombardy and Tuscany. Cheers

That's how it looks from the street level (only mobile panorama, sorry):

Why "worse"? It's obvious that you have to be sure to fill those skyscrapers before to build. Also we aims for "best design" instead of density.

BTW the area is in evolution. Here for example, two completed squares

Other towers/buildings (offices, hotel, luxury residences) will be built around the district, a new urban contemporary public park will be placed at the center.

WHAT????

However Milan is considered one of the ugliest cities in Italy. Indeed it is, except for new developments.
Turin, Rome, Naples, Palermo, Genoa, Florence, Venice, Catania are beautiful cities.
