Despite heavy rain a large crowd defied the weather to cheer the monarch, accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh, at the new Bull Street stop in the city centre.

There the Queen named a tram after the late Councillor Angus Adams, the former chairman of Centro

The tram is held at the box junction, by the horizontal light bar on the tram signal, top centre left of photo.

Birmingham Tramway Extension by metrogogo, on Flickr

The signal has changed to a vertical light bar, and the tram proceeds forward.

Potential passengers, the next time I checked on them they'd disappeared, so I was left wondering if they were allowed to board the tram.

Cash fares here http://nxbus.co.uk/the-metro/tickets...#service_fares

It might be possible to buy tickets at a travel shop at New Street Station.

More ticket info here http://nxbus.co.uk/the-metro/tickets-prices/

Here's a photo I took today on Bull Street of tram no 35: Angus Adams.

And finally, now that the tram tracks have been laid much nearer to the edge of viaduct wall you cant get a glimpse of the Birmingham and Fazeley Canal.
