Interestingly, the smaller diameter pipes have plastic connectors at the bend joints, I'm wondering if this is to stop stray currents from the tramway electrical infrastructure.

Gas main divergence pipe, I think this is so they can cut away the old gas main between the two divergence pipes and then insert a new section of the gas main pipe.

Work seems to have ground to an halt on the Victoria Square gas mains, It's rare to see anyone working, the first trench they dug out by the Iron Man hasn't seen any movement for months, I'm also wondering if this work is holding up the repair work on the fountain, I'm sure I read some where that the council would repair the leaks at the start of 2016.

New traffic signals have gone up today, and the old pedestrian cross at the top of Bull Street has been taken down as the new junction will incorporate them, when I took the photo's this morning the two gents in the orange were guiding people with crossing the road, temp lights are up now.

Update from today:-

Little surprise today! A couple Traction Poles have had spikes added to the top of them, looks great with the finishing touches!

The Bull Street junction has been complete, the new traffic signals are complete and just waiting to be switched on

New West Midlands authority plans rail expansion
Tuesday, June 14, 2016

THE new West Midlands Combined Authority centred on Birmingham, Britain, is drawing up plans through Transport for West Midlands, which comes into force this month, to expand the rail network under a £4bn 10-year transport investment plan

The rail projects cover both the Midland Metro light rail and heavy-rail networks. Extensions are planned to Midland Metro in Birmingham city centre to Centenary Square by 2019, and Edgbaston by 2020-21. A new LRT line is proposed from Birmingham via the new Curzon Street HS2 high-speed station and Solihull to Birmingham Airport and the planned HS2 interchange station

Wolverhampton tram extension gets green light

Plans for an £18m extension of the tram service in Wolverhampton have been given the go-ahead by the government.

The Midland Metro is set to go along Pipers Row, to the city's bus station and on to the railway station which is being redeveloped.

The secretary of state for transport's approval meant preparatory work could start later this year, said West Midlands transport authority Centro.

The route is expected to be competed in 2019.

The work is part of a £120m redevelopment of the city centre, Centro said.

Roger Lawrence, Wolverhampton City Council leader, said the extension "can play a key role in unlocking further investment and jobs".

"If we are to succeed in revitalising our city then we must have the right transport infrastructure in place to open up new areas for redevelopment and underpin our long term ambitions," he said.
