LXD Mixed-use Development

Shenzhen, China

This is LXD Mixed use development of 13.73 hectares site for office, retail and residential uses. The site is located at Liuxiandong of the west Shenzhen. Liuxiandong Masterplan is aimed at creating a low carbon community and being the role model on economic growth for new cities development.

We divided the site into 3 phases with commercial on the north, retail in the middle and residential on the south. 3 phases are connected with terrace, flyover and underground arcades.

The site is surrounded by mountains and there is a planned green corridor on the south. We designed a building height sequence to have coherence with the surroundings by reflecting the trend of the mountains. In addition, with consideration of viewing corridors in our design, people in all building could enjoy the view of mountains, planned green corridor and retail roof garden.

In order to form a low carbon community, our design is combined with roof gardens, sky gardens for offices, shared balconies for all residential units and recycling and reusing of rainwater as well as ventilation design with consideration on the specific Southeast monsoon climate.

We believe our design could form a role model as a green community and better living style for the surrounding new cities development.

wow, that's a lot of skyscrapers! it says west shenzhen, so how far is it from Qianhai? when i use google maps and search for Liuxiandong, it looks like it is just north to the chuneng tower.

i am certainly a bit confused by the two different concept designs we have. one features 7 towers and the tallest 250m and the other features only 5 towers, the second concept i am not certain if it does feature the same amount of space or rather just the side left of the first street that fully goes across.

edit: ok looks like it is indeed the same area exactly.

so this area might feature a supertall or get short of it for a bit, however the mock up next to this area is even more promising with 3 possible supertalls.

The first gallery is the phase 1. You can see phase 2 in the background, and even the last picture of the first gallery shows the 300m tower. The last picture is the layout for the supertall phase.

As long as there are still many millions of rural Chinese moving to the cities needing places to live and work, I think they'll keep building lots of towers in these cities to accomodate them. I figure we still have many years of exciting new supertalls in China's cities ahead of us.

Yes, makes absolutely sense. If you take a look of the satellite image of the area, you will notice a huge empty building area at least the size of the Shewan Station site.

A building that have the height much bigger that the other dimensions.

So a 25mx25mx75m building is a tower.

I think European cities without 300 m buildings can be great because of all the history and stuff, they don't need to be like Shenzhen with skyscrapers everywhere. Thats the beauty of European cities, but it would be nice to some more though

That site is huge. Almost like building a small city.
