My least favorite regional style in the UK is the crooked-roofed houses you see in parts of Lancashire, like Burnley:

and Padiham:

The perspective on these things makes me constantly feel drunk.

Hmmm once again in Edinburgh it is really (really, really) hard to find any kitschy building. One can really enjoy most of the buildings here. Most of them are pretty old build in one style and basicly nothing change from the exterior much. So most of architecture is not really ugly in standards of this thread but what do you think about this:

Let me introduce to you:

Scottish Parliament

TBH the materials used for this building are grate. The thing is that I could not feel this building at this place. In one side there is a lot of green and space at the other it was really close to residential buildings sorrounded by concrete. IT still a good peace of architecture of course once again it does not match the other soroundins. But still I think I should not publish those pics here... so please forgive me!

I have to agree that these English houses are kinda strange and make me feel dizzy as well. :P

And this one...

Which idiot thought it would be a good idea to build this?
$10 says in 50 years that neighborhood will be "historical"

The Scottish Parliament is an interesting case. Reminds me of Opera Bastille, another high profile piece of European 90s architecture. They've both become very dated and indeed especially because the fašades lost any attractive qualities as they aged, while the general volumetries are still pleasing and still make sense as good architecture. However Opera Bastille still comes alive at night, when the materiality of the fašades disappears as an part of the aesthetic appreciation because of the dark, while lighting the inside up brings new life in it. I don't know if the Scottish parliament has a similar life after dark. Another thing is that Opera Bastille's shapes fit well with the surroundings while the Scottish Parliament seems completely isolated from any dialogue with what's around.

Are those guns on the wall?

Those are definitely handguns. That building is violating British gun control law and needs to be burnt down for that!

Actually those remind me of the sprayer on my garden hose...
...whatever they're supposed to be, they're but a small problem compared to how ugly this whole structure is! I second the motion of tearing it down!

It looks like it was originally white. It should be repainted.

It's not modern nor architecture. It's a glorified garden shed
