The ugliest building in Cleveland is their police hq, officially called Justice Center. It's just about as ugly as the surface lots right next door.

Luckily its other next door neighbor is beatiful:

Across the Mall from these used to be Cleveland's second ugliest tower:

But they renovated it in 2015 and now it's clad in modern glass and is one of the most eco-friendly skyscrapers in the city.

Beacon at 515 Euclid Avenue will overtake both if it's built.

That police hq is pretty good. If that's the worst it has to show, Cleveland is a beautiful city. Although I doubt it is the worst, those three "post modern" towers in the left background of the second pic are awful. The key logo on the tallest one perfectly sums up the tackiness.

200 Public Square and Marroitt at Key Center aren't anything too special, but I'm surprised you dislike Key Tower so much. I must admit, though, it did look better before the Key logos were installed (that happened in 2005).

Maybe you would like to see the Chinese ripoff version? (Open the link at your own risk, because if you think Key Tower looks tacky, you'll absolutely hate this)

Key Tower is a César Pelli masterpiece, and along with 181 West Madison as inspired by Eliel Saarinen's Tribune Tower design, a prototype to famous skyscrapers like Two International Finance Centre.

Apartment building in Lima, Peru

The architect (Enrique Leguía) had a meltdown on Facebook after his building was ridiculed on social media.

A quick translation:
Quote:
Enrique Leguia hahaha I just saw this... in fact this building was born from a first sketch... the apartments were sold almost immediately and people who live in them are very happy... curiously the tangle of overhead wires plays with its lines... obviously it will not please everyone but to break with the boring boxes or the moronic style that many of my colleges are wrapped up is enough for me... I have never been in Barraco's workshop neither I like its work... I have never copied anyone and I get bored easily... all my works are different and i love to experiment... architecture is just another expression of art... the most important thing is to make your idea a reality and I don't give a $h/t of the capricious comments of mediocre architects who don't dare to break the mold... kisses

I might like this building if the facade had been painted white, but bare concrete looks like brutalism which is my least favorite architectural style by far.

It's not that bad, but it could be better.

A shame that seven English terraced houses had to sacrifice their lives for this monstrosity. Let me pour out some tea in their memory.

A hole shaped as a cleaver. The "Opus" building can become a symbol of a butchery. It doesn't seem to have any other idea - they just wanted to make a hole of this shape, and even used this shape as the building logo. 2 of the basic 3 Vitruvian principles of architecture have been violated here. Although the Hadid's company is trying to market it as a sculpture rather than architecture, but a sculpture is supposed to have an idea. This one stands for nothing. And no building is supposed to violate 2 of the 3 basic principles of architecture.

Luckily this abomination won't be bothering Cleveland for much longer. The Cleveland Police Department, which is moving out so Cuyahoga County can acquire the property, has made an official statement that the complex is in horrid structural condition and the best thing to do is to demo it

I'm just concerned what will happen with the site once demo is over tho

Spidey, this threat is not for posting your personal hatings but instead to show real abominations that have nothing to do with architectural desing principles or are of a general bad taste.

The Cleveland Police Headqurter is neither of that! In fact its a pretty neat brutalist building.

I like that building, it has a nice stone cladding. Far better than the average glass buildings built today.

I agree with you. IMO, the over-reliance of now-generic glass cladding and tacky tasteless designed (or renovated) buildings today have made such old hated brutalist and international-styled buildings more superior on design and appearance.

If I go with Spidey's principle, my post would mostly renderings of many new "generic" buildings in Indonesia on this thread, these are all damn horrid tall soulless glass buildings, worshipped by local Skyscrapercity members over there.

EDIT: and for a Government building, the Cleveland Police Headquarters is more superior than this

It's a government building in Jayapura, Indonesia, and this is a pinnacle of badly-designed building. Do local elements mix well with this abomination obsession of fake classicism with pillars and domes?
