From Toronto (for a change)

If you're going to build cheap knock-offs of actual historic buildings, at least proportion them correctly

Really? I like it, though it could use a spire on top.

For my sensitive eyes it is badly proportioned, the spire is bulky and the increments unlikely. It's not a fish-house, but this project is too big for imperfection.

Ok I see what you mean. If the setbacks were evenly spaced it would look much better. And like I said it could use a spire on top.

We've seen a lot of incongruous specimens, we've been through many pics of oddly shaped ones, but the Balkans are def unbeatable when it comes to absurd lavishness. Why does it have to be this garish all the time? The question's pending..

Bad taste. Many people on the Balkans made money for very quick time, and now they think they know the best when it comes to architecture. And the kitsch is present on every level of the life, not only in architecture, but in music, movies, clothing, cars... you named it.

But I believe that the Balkans are not the worst in the world, because so far on this thread we've haven't seen examples from many other parts of the world.

Take a look at this horrible piece of sh*t that will be built in my country... This is supposed to be the Government Center, so it should be a big project, with nice buildings. But they have this 3 horrible options. This is what happens when you get cheap architects... Even the render quality is sh*t. I wish I could send them a proposal

I don't think I have ever visited any place that has such a contrast between such beautiful and disgusting architecture as Bradford, England. It has some jaw-dropping Victorian buildings from a far greater era, whilst just opposite the street will be the most obnoxious, grim excesses of Brutalism - and perhaps worst of all the most architecturally devoid, bland examples of Postmodernism - that is, if we can infer, that they were designed by architects at all. To top it all of there is now the construction of a Westfield Shopping Centre, world renowned for shocking bland boxes of consumerist filth.

A few examples of the bad stuff.

Ivebridge House

Bradford Hotel (formerly Hilton)

God knows what on Earth this thing is:

The shopping center is interesting. Though the plastic signs on the base mess it up.

Some parts even look art deco.

Lisbon. The ugly building on the left wasn't even made by an architect.
