Antwerop's low floor trams, Hermelijnen is popular name for these trams, I don't know if this is manufacturers name as well, Antwerp is one of few European cities that has trams going underground, in large parts of central Antwerp trams go underneath the the streets, sort of pre-metro system, it was unique system for quite a while and I think it is very cool system as well.. Now few other cities have adopted this system as well...

Trams are about 30m long and have capacity of about 200 passengers, this is my guess...

Uummmm, that's truly lovely! I prefer clattering, merry oldschool vehicles to faceles plastic pipes as well.

Some real Helsinki stuff from railfaneurope.net:

These beauties ended their long service recently..

But fortunately these are still forming the majority of our tram population.

Barcelona, Lyon, Dublin and Montpellier use variations of the same tram model: Citadis by ALSTOM.

Krakow's Bombardier trams, Krakow got 50 of these from Bombardier over past 3 years under a deal with Bombardier, EU and Krakow City Authorities. Trams are 25.5m long, can carry about 140 passengers and have max speed of 70kmph...

Bratislava, Slovakia, Tatra Models, not low floor but; not bad at all, Bratislava is talking to Koncar - Cro-Tram (Croatia) for purchase of low floor trams, they are observing how Cro-tram performs on streets of Zagreb and if all is well, they might order few Cro-trams..

BTW, most new low floor trams cost in region of 3-4.5 million U$, cheapest low floor trams built currently are Croatian and Czech trams, CroTram made in Croatia cost about 3$ million and Skoda new trams are in region of 3.35$ million, CIF...

Other trams are about 20-25% more expensive for similar 5 section low floor tram... If you wondered why Croatian and Czech trams are so much cheaper? Workforce in Croatia and Czech Republic is lot cheaper, but in terms of quality at least Croatian made trams are superb. No glitches thus far, all are running smoothly, and most ppl who use them have only great things to say.

Melbourne, Warsaw, Sofia, Bratislava, Riga, Belgrade and few other places have shown interest for this trams,

Few more shoots for TMK2200

Currently we have 18 "Variotram's" (original manufacturer: ADtranz) but if I remember correctly, we will get 20 new vehicles. I think they are now operating on lines 3,4 and 10.

^How many tram lines are there in Helsinki?

I think Helsinki might need more low floor trams if it intends to replace all of its older trams. 38 trams won't do...
