One picture of Valčncia tram

The same tram in Alacant tram network, ex-Valčncia. Runs provisionally in Alacant because there are no especific trams for this network (in this moments they are building for this network)

And another who runs in Valčncia Network, rented from Lodz

A five unit Combino on Spring St in Melbourne. Melbourne's network is one of the biggest in the world with 250km (155 miles) of double track and around 1770 tram stops. There are 500 trams availble for service of which 59 are Combino types. This year Yarra Trams celebrates 100 years of electric trams in Melbourne.

From looking at all of these, Melbourne has to be the home of the tram. Every other city's is pretty crap compared to Melbourne's.

I think Melbourne has a much larger tram network than any other city on Earth too. No city compares.

At least it's still in the Top 10. I think we may have the largest tram network in the Southern Hemisphere.

Which is, as a matter of fact, extremely impressive. Keep it up

Have a look at the new Clermont Ferrand tram (hometown of Michelin tyres)

http://www.letram-clermontferrand.com/tram/index.php

A new tram built by Lohr industries with tyres (Michelin ones of course!) and only one central track!

http://www.letram-clermontferrand.com/tram/design.php

Any other innovative projects on the globe?

Interesting data and an interesting website too. One minor thing is that Melbourne has more than 238 km. A few extensions recently mean it's now up to about 250km.

This site compares lenghts from about the same period, so it's quite probable that in the rest of mentioned systems some extensions also took place

Translohr is not a real tramway...

Which are the advantages of translohr instead of a tramway?
