The changes are :
  • Awana Skyway has ceased operations; the cables and pylons have been demolished;however, the station at Genting Grand (formerly known as Genting Hotel) is still there, there were even signs (which hasn't been updated) leading to the station.
  • The linkway from First World Hotel to Resort Hotel/Elevators to Vision City has been closed, even though from the outside it's still there.
  • Theme Park Hotel has closed; including the restaurants on the lobby floor. The exterior of the first floor has been removed.
  • Some of the pylons for the new skyway has been placed; one by the road between Resort Hotel and Theme Park Hotel, two others by the roads beside the Ria Apartments. The new skyway station seems to be completing faster than the rest of the constructions. There was even a cable car at the station.**Pictures below**
  • Some of the rides at First World Plaza ceased operations. The monorail tracks, Euroexpress tracks and Flying Dragon tracks were demolished.
  • The First World Bus Terminal ceased operations. All buses from the terminal were transferred to the temporary Mushroom Farm Bus Terminal. Free shuttle buses are available from FWH to the terminal. The borders of the theme park construction ended at the terminal (this shows how big the theme park will be).

Genting M’sia doubles spending to RM10bil
BY M. HAFIDZ MAHPAR Wednesday, 24 February 2016
http://www.thestar.com.my/business/b...spend-rm10bil/

Quote:
“Under this phase, the first-ever world-class branded Twentieth Century Fox World theme park will see a substantial increase in investment with more spectacular, thrilling and state-of-the-art rides than previously announced,” said Genting. This phase also will see the indoor theme park undergo a major transformation, offering a total of 18 rides from the existing nine.
KUALA LUMPUR: Genting Malaysia Bhd will double the capital investment under the Genting Integrated Tourism Plan (GITP), which involves redeveloping and transforming Resorts World Genting, from the earlier-announced RM5bil to an estimated RM10.38bil.

The company said in a press statement that it would significantly expand and add new facilities under the 10-year GITP launched in December 2013.

It said it would offer “an extensive and wide array of new and exciting entertainment options, unique to visitors from across the region.”

The capital investment under Phase 1 of the GITP will increase from RM4bil to RM8.11bil, with total investment in the Twentieth Century Fox World theme park expected to exceed RM2bil.

The Sky Avenue shopping mall and Genting Premium Outlets also come under the first phase.

Genting said the expansion plans also included a substantial increase in staff accommodation to cater for an additional 7,000 new job opportunities at the resort as well as new power sub-stations and water treatment plants to cater for future growth demands.

Phase 2, estimated to cost over RM2bil, will see the construction of more luxury hotels at the resort as well as a show arena with a seating capacity of up to 10,000.

Genting said the construction and development works for GITP were progressing well. Its first offering, the new 1,300-room First World Hotel Tower 3, has been fully operational since June last year.

In a separate development, Genting Malaysia announced to Bursa Malaysia that its earnings for the financial year ended Dec 31, 2015, rose 5.8% to RM1.26bil on a 2% higher revenue of RM8.4bil.

For the fourth quarter (Q4), its pre-tax profit was 2.9% lower at RM357.8mil due partly to foreign exchange losses on the group’s US-dollar denominated assets as well as higher depreciation and amortisation charges.

However, its earnings grew 9.3% to RM338.56mil as revenue jumped 11.4% to RM2.29bil.

Meanwhile, Genting Bhd, which owns just under 50% in Genting Malaysia Bhd, reported a 23.8% rise in profit attributable to equity holders to RM338.9mil for the fourth quarter.

For the entire year, its earnings slipped 7.2% to RM1.39bil.

20th Century Fox World, GITP on track to boost Genting Malaysia
May 26, 2016, Thursday Ronnie Teo
http://www.theborneopost.com/2016/05...#ixzz4AVZWUIWF

KUCHING: With the 20th Century Fox World theme park and the Genting Integrated Tourism Plan (GITP) progressively opening up retail space, restaurants and casino floor, Genting Malaysia Bhd (Genting Malaysia) is set to reap the benefits in the later part of 2016 onwards.

This was on the back of it announcing its core net profit of RM319.1 million for the first quarter of 2016 (1Q16) which Kenanga Investment Bank Bhd (Kenanga Research) pegged as within expectations.

“The core earnings were adjusted including RM138.8 million forex translation loss, which was reported in its Investment and Other business segment, mainly due to the recovery of the ringgit which resulted in a loss position for its cash and assets held in US dollar denomination,” it explained in a report yesterday.

“1Q16 core earnings fell seven per cent on a quarterly comparision as revenue slid three per cent to RM2.21 billion, owing to lower hold percentage for its VIP business in Resorts World Genting.

“This affected its Malaysian operations with adjusted EBITDA declining 10 per cent to RM451.5 million as revenue contracted 13% to RM1.31b.”

However, Genting Malaysia’s casinos in the United Kingdom posted strong numbers with adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) soared threefold to RM98.6 million as revenue jumped 23 per cent to RM528.9m thanks to higher hold percentage for its premiums segment and higher bad debt recovery.

Meanwhile, Resort World Birmingham reported loss at EBITDA level of 2.6 million pounds.

While the main attraction, 20th Century Fox World theme park will only be ready by end- 2017, Kenanga Research said the RM10.38 billion 10-year GITP development is progressively open-ing up the retail space, restaurants and casino floor in 3Q16, which should be able to contribute to Genting Malaysia’s bottom line.

“Despite the strong 1Q16, we remain cautious on the VIP- centric UK operations, which could be volatile while the Resort World Birmingham may need some time before showing meaningful results,” it added.

“Meanwhile, the Resorts World New York City numbers should be sustainable while Resort World Bimini is looking to be profitable by mid-2016.

“We keep our FY16 and FY17 estimates unchanged for now. We upgrade Genting Malaysia to market perform from underperform as its share price has fallen three per cent year to date.”

20th Century Fox World Malaysia delayed until 2017
Genting's movie theme park project delayed over weak ringgit
http://www.themeparkguide.org/30444-2/

Japanese brokerage Nomura says completion of 20th Century Fox World Malaysia – a theme park being developed at Genting Malaysia Bhd’s hillside casino resort outside Kuala Lumpur – “will not happen before end-2017”. In October analysts from brokerage CIMB Securities Ltd said the park’s opening had been delayed“until 2017”. Full Story: GGR Asia

Genting’s GITP launch continues to reaffirms analysts
August 30, 2016, Tuesday
http://www.theborneopost.com/2016/08...irms-analysts/

KUCHING: Additional gaming capacity arising from the launch of Genting Integrated Tourism Plan (GITP) continues to reaffirm analysts of Genting Malaysia’s long term prospects.

The research house AllianceDBS Research Sdn Bhd (AllianceDBS Research) has noted that the GITP launch is on track with the launch of the Sky Avenue & Sky Plaza shopping malls and the new cable car station by the end of 2016, and the twentieth Century Fox World outdoor theme park by the end of 2017.

“We expect the number of visitors to improve from 19 million in 2015 to 25 million by 2018, on track to meet its target of 30 million by 2020” elaborated the research house.

Along with the additional gaming capacity, this higher visitation is expected to drive Genting Malaysia’s earnings.

Similarly, the research firm Affin Hwang Investment Bank Bhd (Affin Hwang) has reiterated this sentiment as they have expressed their positivity towards Genting Malaysia due to their potential in earnings growth from additional gaming facilities and non-gaming revenue.

Additionally, Genting Malaysia’s first half results of 2016 (1H16) have been promising with an increase core net profit of 12.1 per cent year over year (YoY) to RM669.4 million.

This increase accounted for about 50 per cent of earnings forecasts from both the research house AllianceDBS Research Sdn Bhd (AllianceDBS Research) and the research firm Affin Hwang Investment Bank Bhd (Affin Hwang).

Affin Hwang noted that this increase was mostly due to Genting Malaysia’s second quarter of 2016 (2Q16) revenue from its UK operations which saw an increase of 70.7 per cent YoY and continued to improve thanks to higher volume in the VIP segment from revised marketing strategies.

“Genting Malaysia’s 2Q16 core earnings were lifted by higher Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortization (EBITDA) in its domestic operations at Resorts World Genting (RWG) due to higher volume in the VIP market, narrower losses in Bimini ammounting to RM52 million, and better luck factor in the UK operations despite lower overall volumes” explained Affin Hwang.

Both analyst firms have reported that Genting’s 1H16 results were withing their expectations.

As such, AllianceDBS research has decided to maintain their earnings estimates for Genting Malaysia while Affin Hwang has maintained their financial year 2016 (FY16) dividend per share (DPS) forecast of 7.1 sen.

Both analysts maintain their ‘Buy’ recommendation for GenM with a target price of RM5 per share.
