London: Former Olympic village.

Last Weekend I went for a walk around the part of the Athletes Village that is now open to the Public and has tenants moving in. I really liked it, it made me think of a posh German neighbourhood.

It's only the Eastern Section that is open and there is plenty of work going on the other sections.

Here's a map of the Walk

Turning right you are confronted by the new Unite student housing tower.

It's certainly big.

A view of the Village from Westfield

Turning right into the Village near the school.

The school has a retro 50's/60's vibe but is actually well built and faces onto a nice square filled with Pine trees.

A potential shop/cafe opposite the school facing the square.

Looking back towards the School as I head towards Mirrabelle Gardens.

Almost at the Gardens

Into the Square, where each building is different and all use quality materials. The blocks are mostly duplexes on the ground floor with apartments above. The car parks are interior to the blocks courtyards, hence the ground floor duplexes wrapping around them and facing onto the interior landscaped courtyards.

One of the side streets towards the railway has the very nice duplexes with no flats above. Such finely detailed white bricks on these ones.

Back to the Square.

Looking off towards the high tech medical centre.

Looking across Victory Park towards the un-opened sections

Across to the park and the wooden play park was packed with kids.

Across the bridge towards the Old Media centre, which now houses BT sport's studio's. The building will be redeveloped into more offices, a college and is being rebranded to 'Here East'.

South towards the Stadium looking back towards the development.

Update

I thought I'd add some more photo's as the weather was nicer last weekend and more sections of the Park and former Olympic village opened.

It all looked stunning under the sun and the new park sections were thronged with happy children and families picknicking.
