It would be possible for each Aircraft type thread, e.g. "BOEING | 787 News & Discussion", to have a sub-thread for planespotting photos. Right now, the photos make it difficult to follow discussions.

All right... so if I were to do that, I could add a subdivision just for aviation photography.

research and take a look at the AIP. the aviation industry has the guidelines for this task. that official document will help you paint a clear picture.

Possible to separate airports and airlines? Too much mess.

The two are intertwined as one cannot operate without the other. The main thing is I haven't had a chance to catch up on rearranging the table of contents list since I was at the height of my tutoring.

The airport threads seem OK as do the Airline threads. Airports and Airlines might need combining into logical blocks long term.

London Airports should have a single thread and Rest of UK Airports another thread (you can throw all of Ireland in there too) . The two threads would then represent around 100m passenger movements each then which is plenty enough.

The big problem is the stupid planespotting gack in discussion threads and the worst offenders discuss nothing anyway.

I would also make a clear exception for a very few users like Woodys Aeroimages who get a lot of original and newsworthy factory photos but would request they minimise the image posts in discussion threads and put the full set in an images forum. They can link the post with the large feed of images into the discussion forum anyway.

Some users forget how expensive bandwidth is in most of the world, at least if the images are in EG "Airbus A380 Images and Plane Spotting" sub fora these users are duly warned before they hammer their bandwidth allowances.

jan posted the request more than a year ago. the entire subforum is still a mess. I think somebody should volunteer in mking the changes if the assigned person cant do it. quite disappointed really. the plan arrangement was intricate tha it consumed so much time. we could have gone a little simplier. at least theres progress. forget getting airport inrofmation from the specific country subforums for the mean time.

Why not make two subforums?

"Airports" and "Airlines/Airplanes"

Some might want to look at pictures of planes, others want to look at airport projects.

I like that idea , I will PM Jan with that suggestion... It is a little crowded in here...and I would hate to see this section die off...

Yeah let's go ahead with this one. I just created a dedicated airports section for discussions about existing airports.

Other candidates for sections are one for airlines and one for photo's.

Next step would be to group the Airlines together under one sub-forum to lessen the clutter as well. Judging by the number of airlines in operation today, it seems that it also deserves a sub-forum too.

I'd leave existing threads on aircraft in the main forum and ban Photo and Video only posts in them thereafter. The threads will soon enough become news not serial planespotter gack.

One photo per post allowed IF accompanied by SIGNIFICANT NEWS , that will ensure Woody and Cager and the other Aircraft factory lurkers can post photos as they usually have genuine news, not like that poxy Antonov thread.

Create an Aircraft Photos and Video subfolder and add in one or two posts for common models like A320 A330/A340 A350 A380 B737 B747 B757/B767 B787 and the entire Antonov thread.

Seed posts for each one here.

Sounds perfectly reasonable , it will require some enforcement from time to time which isn't to hard...

Do you think adding Cargo and Specialized aircraft would be a little bit of a stretch to add to your proposal too?

Exactly. If on balance some posters take the piss they can be restricted to the photos forum where they will do no harm ....except to each other.

I woyld leave airline threads in here with the same rules on photos applying. If someone wants an Air India photos thread let them start one in photos where it belongs.
