More images of the unconfirmed design. We may have an extra 200m tower and 5 midrises

Looks like they are also drilling elsewhere in the pit. Hopefully, the other towers will start to rise soon.

Piling started! But I think it's not the main tower

On a second thought and after seeing the latest Google Earth shots, it seems quite likely that the ongoing work is directly next to the main tower...!

This is most likely U/C by now. GE shot form January 23 shows piling machinery directly on the main tower's site

The tallest of them would be taller than anything in Australia but here it occupies a small corner of the proposed area.

Simply mind blowing

I read something very sad on gaoloumi today,Qianhai might actually have a height limit of 153m totally destroying any hope of a dramatic skyline. I hope the airport is wiped out in a storm or something. Original height limit was 293-350m with a place for a 450m supertall moved further inland

I call bullshit. Ping'an is one thing. A cut from 660 to 600m is 'only' ~9% of its height. But cuts from 300m+ to 153m is just ridiculous, there is absolutely no way the government would have approved supertalls in Quinhai in first place.

I hope it can be changed too.
This is a central government funded project right? So hopefully the full might of the central government can resolve this issue and change the flight paths or something. Too many companies have already invested billions in this so it should actually be a no brainer.
On a more positive note there are rumours of a new 500+ in luohu that is supposed to have a design contest soon.

I have to agree with this assessment, why would they approve such a project with such a height restriction in place? It's not just any area either.

Any plane flying at 153 m in a Chinese urban area is definitely looking for problems.

I would say if there is such a height restriction then it would apply to part of the zone not all.
