@domicilium: indonesia is not an islam-law-based nation but a country with muslim-majority citizens. Hope you see the difference

No offense to Indonesia, but the aircraft livery (the baby blue/white combination) is really ugly...
Even parliament members had questions about the 'awful' livery...

GMF to handle maintenance
of presidential plane

Maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) firm PT GMF AeroAsia, a subsidiary of flag carrier Garuda Indonesia, will handle the maintenance of the recently arrived presidential aircraft Boeing Business Jet 2 (BBJ-2).

"We are ready to take care of the presidential aircraft. This is a historical milestone for GMF as the biggest MRO firm in Indonesia," president director Richard Budihadianto said on Monday as quoted by Antara news agency. He said the firm would conduct maintenance up to C-check, or heavy maintenance.

In addition, it would provide spare parts, maintenance components, engineering, cabin maintenance, training and repainting and logo design if necessary.

GMF was previously in charge of the maintenance and repair of the Yemeni presidential plane, a Boeing B747 Special Performance (SP), in 2009.

The plane underwent C-checks and interior modification at GMF facilities in Cengkareng, Banten, west of Jakarta. The company also trained five technicians for the Yemeni presidential plane in Jakarta.

"Apart from [our existing] capability, we have the experience to handle the maintenance of presidential aircraft," he added.

The firm has obtained approval certificates from the Transportation Ministry, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). (nfo)
