Really wonder how they will apply the finishing. Will it be a cover material that will have many ugly gaps or will they be using spray coating.

It looks like the central staircase of a gigantic badass spaceship in some science fiction movie. This will be photographed so much, used for advertising campagnes etc.

The really cool part is that most people will see it after walking the High Line, it's like the perfect day for a city-loving tourist.

Yes. Although, I suppose one might often see the Culture Shed in the way, when it is fully extended :P

They look to be copper panels, judging from the renders.

My guess is that they will custom cut/bend the panels to join behind some kind of - for lack of a better word - 'truss' (see below)

If I had to guess, I would say they'll be cut quite large and to shape to minimize the number of 'joins' necessary.
