Can that massing be right? Shouldn't it look quite a bit taller at 203m? It's only 80m shorter than 30 Park Place but in the massing it looks half as tall.

Of course the question only makes sense if the creator of the massing is a forumer. I'm just curious if it was done with accuracy in mind or only to show the location or something.

That is due to the quality of the render but I think the 2 towers make a good combination.

It's a nice tower but the previous design was bolder. I wouldn't call it dumbed down but the other would have been my preference. Like I said, still a nice tower, though.

It's actually not bad imo. There's a whole lot worse out there than this.

I actually prefer the new design. It's simpler and more elegant.

El-Gamal scores $219M in financing for 45 Park Place
http://therealdeal.com/2016/05/18/el...45-park-place/

Quote:
Sharif El-Gamal’s Soho Properties has secured $219 million in construction loans for 45 Park Place in Tribeca, The Real Deal has learned, completing a quest closely followed by those nervous about a tighter residential financing environment.
Malaysian bank Malayan Banking Berhad (Maybank) and Kuwait-based Warba Bank are the lead arrangers on a senior construction loan of $174 million, with Italian bank Intesa Sanpaolo serving as documentation agent. MASIC, a Saudi investment firm led by the Al Subeaei family, is providing a $45 million mezzanine loan.
“Our vision for the neighborhood and location is validated by our lenders’ confidence in the market and enthusiastic support for 45 Park Place,” El-Gamal said in a statement.
The 43-story project is slated to rise 665 feet, with 50 apartments. SOMA Architects is designing the building, while Ismael Leyva Architects will be the architect of record. El-Gamal is also developing a three-story Jean Nouvel-designed Islamic museum adjacent to the tower.
The tower is slated to break ground this summer and be ready by 2018. Stribling plans to launch sales in late spring.

http://ny.curbed.com/2016/6/16/11956...nstruction-nyc

Quote:
After no fewer than seven years in the works, construction is officially on at Soho Properties’s condos coming to 45 Park Place. Soho Properties chief Sharif El-Gamal and a group of cohorts finally placed shovel to ground in an official groundbreaking ceremony on June 2, putting to end a long and windy path to the redevelopment of the former Burlington Coat Factory site.

Site is really well boarded up, so getting a picture is tough but doesn't look they have too much more excavation work to do :

This tower is pretty decent but its original design was superior and could have made it among the best looking towers being developed. Now it's merely pretty nice, but not overly distinctive and certainly not potentially iconic.
