ISTANBUL might struggle to win the 2016 bid it should go for 2020/2024 and it will be in tough competition with cape town perhaps also BA and some others...

If New York wins for 2012, Istanbul will have a better chance for 2016. But during this time we will prepare the Olympic Park and some other complexes.

But after this year. This stadium will be host of many big organizations. Champions Leauge Final will be the first step.

It sure is a nice stadium - saw it up close at MiniaTürk

, but when I went to Halkalı, the stadium looked like it was in the middle of nowhere. I mean it's pretty far from the major areas of population isn't it?

Which reminds me, when are they going to replace the trains that go from Sirkeci to Halkalı? I mean some of them are 50 years old now.

the loction is not good, but they are working.
First they plant more than 41000 7 year old trees
later the ugly houses will be demolished. 2000-3500 new Apartmenst will be built

I guess I'm one of the few that likes the 'raw' look of the concrete, and the grey seats really complement that. In that sense it reminds me a lot of the TWA Terminal in New York, designed by Eero Saarinen. Its not as curvy, although they both have somewhat of a wingstructure. In total shape the Palavela in Torino for the 2006 wintergames show an even bigger resemblance in both texture and shape.

it has an interesting architecture. Looks like Miagi Stadium in Japan... When will all constructions be ready? When will the construction of Olympic Park will start? I'd like to see other Olympic preparations of Istanbul.

What's happening in Istanbul?You're building best and biggest of everthing.Airports,F1 circuit,stadiums,Arena and many skyscrapers.Actually I like the grey seats the only thing which I don't like is that's it's not europe's biggest

actualy the construction of the stadium is finished.
there are some small works for the olympic park.
the Sinan Erdem Dome (22,500) is also supposed for the Olympics

But there are some details. If any European country wins 2012 Istanbul won't have any chance for 2016, but 2020 is okay. It means 15 later and this stadium will be really old

So we will need to build a new one. By the way, we can renovate this one as well. But absolutely it will need a modernization.

BTW I don't think Turkey will join the EU. I think the EU is just distracking Turkey and will say some excuses when the time comes.
