There are rumours that they have never visited the city and the area.
Just placed this project there. Unbelieveable to creat a 1 tier north and south stand although there is a huge north-south wind

But there are no pics. NOC and the sports ministry said it 3 years ago. According to them capacity would be 100,000 But after this was before they reduced the capacity from 80.597 to 75,486. So its maybe 95k. But currently they are building again a protection system because of the wind ![]() I still think that they shoul destroy all 3 stand (mainstand should stay) It could have a same bowl like the Beijing one. Actually the neighborhood is getting better every year. Many new projects like this one will be built in this area http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showth...3#post21175003

You should work on the connections between both 2nd tiers as the new one being "behind" old of the main stand will block views to many people. But that's detail. Anyhow- it would really help the bowl shape... But is this viable with the stadium, using your words
in general is a mistake?

i looked it
max. only 20 seats would be blocked ![]() So i am better than the french architects ( +5k seats!!) Although i do not like the current one i have to say that i've changed my mind The area will be amazing in the next 5-10 years. So many new projects around the stadium http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showth...3#post21175003 http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=369492 As i know its planned to close the endzone stands like i did. So this stadium and the area will look different at the 2024 Olympics ![]() BTW If they lower the pitch you can add a 25k new "1st2 tier capacity would be 105,736 I think than it is also possible to install again some of the +5k seats. So, capacity could also reach 110k ![]() Would be a great national stadium and cup final stadium But on the other hand, Turkey is a big country. Cup final should be played every year in a different city and the national Team should play also in different cities. Istanbul ís too much in the west part of Turkey.

![]() But if they dig the pitch deeper, then the current 1st tier would have to be made steeper, wouldn't it? It's pretty flat. As for the cup, I support the national stadium model. No matter if the ground is in the east or west... National should hold most important games, that's why it's national. But surely not all national team games. Those shoud travel around.

i would just stretch the current 1st tier
yeah, important games could be played here But what will happen if they expand Aslantepe and / or Sükrü Saracolgu to 70-80k? ![]() 70-80k football stadium vs a "bowl" 105-110k stadium

As for the choice between 70-80 football specific and 110 national bowl - I have no doubt to choose the 11 national bowl

current 1st tier has got 32 rows at the main stand and 47 rows at the other ones
I think we need just more exits could look like one of the big college stadiums in the USA But you are right. Exits should be at the first row of the current stadium. = destroy current 1 tier but maybe it wouln'd be a problem

If it's built like the former Soccer City (FNB was it's name?) than this indeed should be too much of a problem. But would the stadium then remain for athletics as well?

it could remain by using the proposed wembley systems (platforms)
so a new steeper 1st tier would be better? or just dig tunnels under the 1st tier?

![]() But seriously, I doubt the sightlines of the "old" first tier would be satisfying, so I would tear it down...
