While tower plans await FAA study and approval, the actual train station is now fully approved and moving forward at a fast pace:

All Aboard Florida to Begin Construction in MIA in 45 Days

Quote:
Construction on the "railway portion" of All Aboard Florida's MiamiCentral station will begin in 45 days, according to The Next Miami, because it's received all necessary approvals and is not subject to local construction permitting. The station structure itself will be permitted at the county level, and will be built in three phases (Phase 1: The station. Phase 2: The towers above it. Phase 3: The 'super tower' directly to the south). It was also recently announced that the other two South Florida stations, in Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach, will begin construction by March 31st.

The FAA can take their time because the towers are boring. I'd rather see better architecture instead of height.

True. I'd like to see more detailed renders before I'll judge.

Construction Underway At MiamiCentral Station, Set To Include 800 Residential Units

Quote:
Construction is now underway at All Aboard Florida’s MiamiCentral, and the company has released more information about the project to the Herald.

The first towers will open in 2017 and include 800 rental apartments in two towers. A 39-story tower will include 450 units, and a 33-story tower will include 350 units. Residents will enjoy amenities that include a pool, basketball courts, and dog-walking area. The first phase will also include a 10-story office tower.

AAF is already drilling piles on one block, and will soon have three other rigs (one on all four blocks) drilling a total of 1,680 piles. The beams that will hold the elevated rail tracks will be complete by November, after which vertical construction on the residential and office towers will begin.

The retail portion of MiamiCentral, along with rail service to Ft. Lauderdale and West Palm Beach, will open in late 2016.

[...]

Work on the second phase will begin mid-2017. It will include an 850-foot tower that houses hotel and residential units.

850 is still not bad, as long as a supertall gets built somewhere in Miami eventually.

1120' would have been such a skyline changer though

I'm still looking for confirmation of a change because the original supertall scheme involved a large amount of office space. So Phase II is either a reworked resy/hotel version of that tower or an additional tower with the taller office tower held back until market (and regulatory) conditions improve.

Hi guys, I recorded a registry while I was traveling during my last vacation in July.

I took one picture of the site. The plate and works started by Suffolk in Phase I.

FAA approved! http://www.thenextmiami.com/1000-foo...proved-by-faa/

Quote:
Three towers – including a supertall – were approved last week by the FAA to rise above All Aboard Florida’s MiamiCentral project.

One MiamiCentral is now approved for a height of 991 feet above ground, or 1,000 feet above sea level. Construction hasn’t started yet, but it is expected to include 600,000 square feet of office space, along with 250 hotel rooms and 280 residential units.

Two residential towers already under construction were given the green light to be built up to a height of 630 feet above sea level, or about 620 feet above ground. They will include 800 rental units.

Is the One MiamiCentral also called "MiamiCentral I"? Also, SkyscraperPage says that this building is 341 m high, is that correct? Because it only says 302 m here...

Yes they are both the same tower. The FAA reduced the tower's height from 341 m to 302 m | 991 feet as stated in the article three posts above.
