Actually Ankara is a historical place but not a historical city. We can say modern Ankara has been established after the Republic and all these buildings are from the early ages of the Republic.

Ankara is an historical city actually. It was the capital of ancient Celtic state "Galatia"... But with thr Roman rule Capital disappeared with its everything and turned a Roman millitary headquarter. You can find some roman buldings even now, like roman bath, at the open museum... During the Seljuk and Ottoman ages it was always a millitary base with a small village. Then railway came to Ankara and had an strategical importance... And First Turkis national assably gethered in Ankara because of its strategical and millitay position. When national assabley came there, Ankara was a little Anatolian village...

you can find best examples for the classic Turkish architecture in Ankara like old ministry buildings, parlementary building, Anitkabir etc..
