Interesting. That looks like an enormous building project - in the center of the city. What will be removed so they can be built?

Hope they publish the heights soon. From the number of floors we can see, this could very well end up in the Highrises section.

Nothing really I think. Because this is how the area looks today (somebody from Gothenburg might have to correct on this though):

This is fantastic for Gothenburg. With the Gothia Triple Towers being finished, this great development and if the "Svall"-proposal gets picked for the Lindholmen-skyscraper, Gothenburg will not only have the best skyline in Northern Europe, but one of the best on the continent.

Wow, a massive and great project, and all that is lost is some central urban wasteland, right? Instead there will be a well connected, extremely dense but perfectly pedestrian friendly new high rise quarter. That is exciting news for Göteborg.

Yes, we talk about an empty space near Nils Ericson terminal.

The highrises will occupy a place in Nils Ericsonsplatsen (square). This view will change in some way (hopefully):

A lavine of good news:

The companies involved in development of this project started to sell the office space in the future highrises. The construction of the first highrises is scheduled for next year. More details about the project should be announced later this year.

Due to a number of ambitious projects, the presentation desk of Gothenburg city was one of the most popular city presentations during the recent architecture festival in Cannes, France.

Here is the picture of the RegionCity model that was presented during MIPIM festival in Cannes:

Some schemes depicting the position of the railway station, Nils Ericson Terminalen and Västlänken railway tunnel (to be constructed) in the context of RegionCity:

According to the plan of the project, there will be 11 highrises built in a relatively small area (225 meters x 125 meters). The proposed height of the towers:

31 floors: 1
26 floors: 1
23 floors: 4
16 floors: 5.

More plans and visualisations to be found here: http://www.regioncity.se/pdfer/pdfer...ept_140604.pdf.

Please note that the highrises will not be the tallest in the new city center of Gothenburg.

The area is larger then I first thought, as you've probably noticed yourself DJ, if you've gone through the PDF document. As I wrote in the local thread, going by the graphs on page 54, it's more like 280m x 150m. It will be a super tight cluster, quite dense exploation.

The first phase, includes 3 highrise towers(out of 11 proposed), and is estimated to be done 2018, I think we can expect the start of construction sometime in the first half of 2016. The tallest of the 11 proposed highrises, will be 130 meters. around 31 floors.

You can read more, or rather(since it is in Swedish, Norwegian and Danish) you can watch the plan drawings and illustrations in the pdf files in the link below.
