Like other big cities (except Rio de Janeiro) in Brazil. Salvador also closed its great tram network completely around 1960. Tne new metro network is not even measurabel than former tram network.

Hate to see these pictures and realize that, in terms of public transportation, we went backwards for decades. I just wonder how this tramways would be today if they were kept working...

Not completely true. Rio de Janeiro also closed its SG tram lines completely, keeping only Santa Teresa system partially, but recently, it is returning SG trams again on the city center are, , new routes will run on part of the old routes. New trams will be very modern. Salvador could do that to keep tram network and modernizing it.

It's not metro of Salvador, It Is Fortaleza metro system.

This location is far from the metro station, but the rain made the metro operation too slow today.
