First impression: not swept away.

View from east of Castlereagh Street front.

Castlereagh Street - street level view of relationship of tower with Porter House and St Georges Church.
Note cantilever.

Bathurst Street - street level view.

At best: quaint?

The previous DA dated 21 February 2014 at point 22 shows a height above street level of 114.5m with RL height of 141.05m. Thus base RL = 26.55m.
The current DA has RL height of 147.727m. Deducting the known RL of 26.55m gives a building height above street level of 121.2m or 398'.

It's obvious why they cantilever it over that old historic building but it gives me a creepy feeling. I'd prefer just a slender tower (but they wouldn't make as much money).

What's this then?????

DA lodged 23 December

116 Bathurst Street SYDNEY NSW 2000
Signage, shopfront alterations and internal fit-out of Ground Floor and Part Level 1 to existing commercial space for ANZ Bank branch including new entry, customer service offices and tellers, ATM's, staff amenities, safe room and intra-tenancy stair.

$921,626.00

Has the somewhat unloved design for this site been put in the Maybe Later Box?

SydneyG - here.

"Btw the ANZ branch on Castelreagh and Bathurst streets has moved. Does this mean the development for that corner has been approved?"
