Fisher Bros. Plans Affordable Rentals with Pool for Murray Hill

Quote:
Fisher Brothers, the developer behind multiple excessively tall Downtown residential projects, is bringing a 36-story residential building to Murray Hill, where it will, of course, replace a parking garage.

Department of Buildings permits to demolish the garage, located at 222 East 40th Street, were approved last week. In its place, 373 rental units will rise, 75 of which (20 percent) will be designated affordable housing.

---

The project is expected to open in 2017.

Work starts on Fisher Bros. new apartment tower

Quote:
Fisher Brothers announced Monday that construction has begun on its new 36-story luxury residential tower, 225 East 39th Street.

Designed by Handel Architects, the The LEED-designed building will feature 372 rental homes.

“Our vision is to create stunning homes with amenities that become an extension of one’s living room,” said Winston Fisher, Partner at Fisher Brothers.

“This building has a beautiful look and great location, with so much to offer its residents. We’re tremendously excited to be moving ahead.”

225 East 39th Street will offer a range of features such as interior and exterior fire pits, an exterior hot tub and an interior swimming pool with whirlpool, as well as other amenities.

The building’s interior is being designed by the Rockwell Group, along with lighting designer BOLD (Brian Orter Lighting Design). The landscape designer is Future Green. The building is anticipated to be completed by summer 2017.

New Renderings of Fisher Brothers’ Curvy Murray Hill Rental at 225 East 39th Street

New Renderings of Fisher Brothers’ Curvy Murray Hill Rental at 225 East 39th Street

It’s always a pleasure when a hulking above-ground parking garage bites the dust; this is not Miami after all, take the subway! And thanks to the legendary real estate firm Fisher Brothers, a soul-crushing 705-car parking garage at 225 East 39th Street was razed last year in preparation for an elegant 36-story rental tower. New renderings posted on the development firm’s website illustrate how the tower may bring a bit of pizzazz to a rather un-glamorous section of Murray Hill. With completion scheduled for spring 2017, groundwork is well underway with sections of the foundation slab poured and steel re-bar projecting skyward.

I could swear I have seen a tower exactly like that before somewhere. Looks like something you'd find in Panama or Southeast Asia.

Looks like something they'd build in Europe, and I don't mean London or Frankfurt but some small city nobody cares about.
