And now all that is left is a rather run down globe in the middle of an uninspired and ill-maintained park. It is so sad that they were in such a rush to tear down so many buildings.

I know the Port Authority pavilion is still standing, so at least there's also that.

I agree the entire area needs a renovation these days, especially the remaining rusty structures.

I knew Gander still had some old charm, but I did not realize it was still in such a great retro shape! Gander used to be a vital airport - a fueling stopover in the days before jets had an easy time crossing the Atlantic. it still sometimes plays a role when a flight has to make an emergency landing.

What could you do with such an airport to make it an interesting overnight layover for transatlantic vacation? Maybe a neat mid-mod hotel and club? What else?

I love the GM center but I could barely find good colour pictures. The interior is absolutely gorgeous and very well preserved, as well as the exterior!

Not sure what they could do with Gander, I'm fine with anything as long as they preserve the terminal building.
