NY is just insane, now if all these buildings would start getting built already!

I'm surprised you can build one in that area, thought the NIMBYs had total control of the Upper East Side... lol rich people with nothing better to do then yap about losing precious views, or having their sacred neighborhood destroyed by the prospect of tall buildings! Hope this one gets one more of similar size that can act as the architectural embodiments of two middle fingers towards the elitist and pretentious!

Amazing news. I can't wait to see this tower! And the 100 floor Shvo tower! And the tower at 31 West 57th Street! And the Park Lane!

NY is truly the world capital. No other place can remotely compare.

100 stories! What would that be around, 450-500m for a residential tower? Let's hope it surpasses the plateau developing and is 500m

Imagine the views from up there! The whole of Mid and Downtown as well as the rolling hills to the north and west!

And that tease about Shvo... damn

I searched for that guy, Wellesley. He claimed to work for a law firm that was involved in real estate, but he didn't know anything. Although the mods treated him unfairly, Spectre is right when he said that he didn't know anything (except, of course, 432 Park, Nordstrom, and Cetra). Anyway, I found it unusual how people were permitted to attack him, and when he replied, he was banned. Anyway, Spectre in Minnesota knows more about NY real estate than some guy who works in a NYC law firm that's involved in real estate development.

P.S.: I concur re: Yimby. He's the man!!

Yimby is the man! And so is Wellesley!

Cheers to all!

I don't get why his original account was banned anyway. Why don't make it simple? Since we all know it's him sooner or later after he starts new account, and his shenanigans are apparently mod approved then let him troll from his original account sparing us at least this multi channel confusion

NY is truely the world capital!

A supertall in the UES will probably have an even higher price tag for its apartments than the Zeckendorf development at 520 Park Av

There's several sites that were cleared along 2nd avenue for construction of the subway. I wonder if this is one of those lots. Inclusion of a subway entrance would constitute a transportation improvement, and allow an increase in air rights.

This thread has no rail to be derailed from.

Perhaps a more concrete thread policy is in order if these constant segues are too much to moderate?

Why does this thread exist? It has no confirmed information. It has no site. No design. No anything. It has an architect wink-wink-nudge-nudging in an interview.

All that happens in threads like these are the people inside the loop get to wink-wink-nudge-nudge and feel smug and informed, and everyone else gets to go 'oh, this could be interesting', and that's that. What can actually be discussed? There's no framework for a discussion. Just a puff of smoke around which we're expected to hang a conversation.

We're less than three pages in and already it's become about that guy with the multiple accounts and his addiction to these forums. We couldn't even get two full pages of on-topic discussion because there's nothing to discuss.

Threads should not be started on rumours. They should be - at minimum - started on something in writing. A press release. A signed contract. An official announcement. It doesn't matter how real this project is. It doesn't matter how trustworthy the architect is. Or how many other forumers know that it's going to be real eventually.

Until something is announced, regardless of whether the project is a pipe dream or a solid prospect, threads shouldn't be started because there's nothing to discuss other than banal hype-train bullshit, and they always devolve into 'this is a real project' 'this isn't a real project' arguments.

If you have to remind people on page three to keep on topic, there's no topic worth discussing in the first place.

Maybe you should ask why we have to constantly delete your garbage posts.

But be sure and ask nicely.

TLDR; press releases are the only indicators that things are real/imminent/happening.

Jean, do you think this will get very high rents compared to 57th street?
