Beautiful! What are the chances of this happening? Does it have to go though a planning board?

I love that Art Deco stylings are experiencing a vogue in NYC Architecture right now.

This is Awesome, NYC gets a new landmark super and it keeps a well know part of it's culture. Everybody seems to win here.

They do indeed. This tower is pure Gotham. This is what we should expect when architects aim to build the tallest in the city or in an area of the city.
This why I always had a beef with Nordstrom, you can't build the tallest building in the city and come up with something that looks like it could be built anywhere in the world.
This is the most exciting tower to rise in the outer boroughs in....forever.

Also gotta say it again but those tall, skinny towers are the best thing to happen to the city's skyline, they really add a futuristic element to it, we need more!!!

Now THAT is is a supertall and a half!

Looks to be around 1400ft! Looks incredible absolutely gob smacked, a true beacon for Brooklyn!

This will add a 3rd peak to the skyline and will make New York feel even bigger with this tower lingering in the distance from Manhattan

Pure gorgeousness

Awesome! This tower looks like 1250-1300 ft, judging by the Toren which is 427ft.

Where you at Queens/Jersey City? Lets go!

The massing is PERFECT. It's weird and unique, yet somehow not awkward in any way. The detailing is futuristic, retro, but still manages to look unlike anything else anywhere. The choice of colors is perfect. Its context within the area is perfect. They really ******* knocked the ball out of the park with this one. I don't care how many EEEEEEVEEIIIL billionaire's end up living there.

It's perfect. I just moved away from BK to LIC but so excited. Absolutely stunning!! I really like that it's not just a boring glass box. It looks elegant, imposing, and ready to be the King of Kings County.

This and I believe that Extell plans on building a supertall right next door, I just hope they can match the quality of this beauty.
This tower has a good chance of becoming my favorite tower out of this recent boom.

This isn't a boom. This is catchup for the previous 50 years of the city's history. Not just the skyscrapers; it's all connected.

I've (badly) added Midtowns future skyline into the render:

Isn't this part of Brooklyn on quite high ground? So this tower should appear taller on the skyline than what is it!

both are experiencing booms of their own... LiC has a 900 footer and a slew of highrises in the works while JC has 2 supertalls and several u/c and proposed highrises of its own.

Daft logic says this plot is 38 feet above sea level.

Keep in mind that this render is angled to intentionally downplay the background skyline so that it doesn't detract from the tower. They intentionally cut off downtown Manhattan with One WTC just to the left. One World Trade Center is exactly 2.2 miles away from this tower as the crow flies.

^Being a Jersey City resident, after seeing that I have to say "We fold", lol! I saw the original rendering for the Liberty Rising proposed casino/hotel/ condos and it's atrocious... like an overgrown casino, not a well thought out tower. Hopefully that changes... but it's too bad the Chinese based developers doing the 99 Hudson tower shrank it to 76 stories and 889 ft... still a substantial building because it will be wide, but a ways off from supertall. Unless the casino design changes dramatically our best hope will be the proposed 95 story tower at 55 Hudson, on land owned by Goldman Sachs and across from its tower there. It is supposed to have office elements but the square footage of 900,000 indicates for that height their will be a lot of residential and/or hotel on the top half or so. There's also 50 Hudson right next to the Goldman Sachs tower, currently undeveloped but can also be built up for a tower with just under 800,000 sq ft potential... that clearly would be a residential looking out clear across the Lower Manhattan skyline. However, I have to say that's it will take an amazing, truly bold take to top this magnificent tower that ShOp appears to have hit a grand slam home run on.. it's purely breathtaking and the crown is magnificent.

I add again as I posed earlier but haven't heard any response to... is this tower going to only be 1,000ft, because it just looks significantly taller. I do believe it's in the location that was supposed to be that tower that was poised to go something like 1,454 ft?

Regarding the height. I wouldn`t take too much from the actual render and rely more on the published numbers on paper. Because these renders are often quite off from the reality. As already mentioned, the angle plays a part.

true but this will be a very cool and slender tower anyway.
