Really a shame, Tupolev should improve TU204 and try to sell it to third world country airlines.

Tupolev ain't what it once used to be. For the last decade they have been feeding on huge 'state orders' from presidential administration and from the military which is the only thing that keeps Tu-204 afloat. But they have absolutely no idea about marketing or advertising whatsoever. There's a pretty promising modification for this aircraft - Tu-204SM, but they cannot sell it to any1. It's been 4 years already since its first flight.

I'm sure if they don't reconsider their business style, as soon as MS-21 performs its maiden flight, Tu-204 will die, and Tupolev will become a solely military design bureau.

Oh Tupolev. I've always wanted to fly on the Tu-134 and Tu-154. Not sure how long until time runs out for me to fly on one.

If I were rich I would own each one of these aircraft. I've dreamed of sitting in the back of a Tu-134.

Red Wings barely managed to overcome consequences of this. After change of ownership there were negotiations between Red Wings, Tupolev and ministry of industry and trade about RW oredering 10-15 new Tu-204SM but no results of these negotiations were ever reported. I believe RW asked for too many benefits in return.
Evidently even 'patriotic' airlines which operate only Russian-made aircraft whether think Tu-204SM is such a piece of crap that they can buy it only in exchange for discounts and subsidy assistance from the government, or they are just too greedy. Or probably both.

I flew often with the Tu-154 in the past. It was great. It is really stable in the air. And the sound is just enchanting. It is my favorite plane.

To my understanding calling Tu-204SM "such a piece of crap" is incorrect. In general by its performance it isn't worse than let's say 737 or a320ceo.
The main problem is that in modern world the aircraft isn't only a flying machine, but also marketing, sales, certification, after-sale support, spare parts supply, crews training, sales financing etc. Tupolev as a soviet bureau had no experience about mentioned above and they didn't feel that they should work on it, so that's how they missed their chance to become the player.

IMHO, it's time to let Tupolev commercial die, and focus on the Irkut MS-21 and further stretches of the SSJ, as well as the proposed production of SSJ in China.
