Good news. I remember someone reporting Wanda will also be involved with something tall in NYC as well.

Wow! Not in love with the design right off the bat. But still impressive.

Definitely don't see the quality that Chicago is known for in this design. The shape is a bit like three Hearst towers put together.

Nice to see development, but I'm going to need to see a better render to finalize my opinion. It looks like a rough drawing, so perhaps we might get a design change if some local input is considered. I like the three-step setback idea though, it could work well if executed in a different manner.

The design is just ok but the problem isn't the shape for me but that dark blue/silver tacky cladding that is all too common in many Chinese buildings. That said this is another great proposal for Chicago!

I understand it's Chinese investors, but do they understand that the whole Chinese takeout box look based on the number 8, is totally played out?

The reason to be excited about this is that it's Jeanne Gang. She's the architect behind Aqua, and she's actually American I think, so this is all her doing. For that reason alone I'm excited.

She made this

^ Yes, it's 10 meters short lol...

Btw, I think it's time to mention that Chicago is just about back. This is a reputable developer, and this is about the size of the Waldorf Astoria proposal we lost.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see more of these proposals in the next year.

Aqua looks amazing, but this one is very tacky indeed.

I think it's a great design. I look forward to seeing what Wanda plans in NY, SF, and LA.
